INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH CELEBRATED THE 77TH REPUBLIC DAY OF INDIA
Indian School Salalah celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India with pride, dignity, and patriotic fervour on Monday, 26 January 2026, at the school premises. The celebration was graciously presided over by the President of the School Management Committee, Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil; distinguished members of the School Management Committee, the Honorary Consul of India to the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Sananthan; the President of the Indian Social Club, Dr. Rakesh Jha and the Principal, Mr. Deepak Patankar.
The proceedings commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Angelina George (VII E) followed by invocation and the National Anthems of Oman and India. The melodious rendition of the patriotic song “Nanha Munna Raahi Hoon” by students of Classes III and IV, expressing their love for the nation and inspiring young hearts to contribute to the welfare of the country.
Dr. Shariq Mohammed, Convener of the School Management Committee, addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of constitutional values. He encouraged students to uphold integrity, discipline, and civic responsibility and inspired them to live the values of unity, justice, liberty, and equality for a stronger, united India. An English speech delivered by Ms. Angelina George (VII E) reflected youthful optimism and awareness, emphasizing the role of the younger generation in safeguarding democracy and contributing positively to society.
A proud moment of the celebration was the felicitation of Ms. Zaina Fathima, who was honoured by the President of the School Management Committee, Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil and Principal Mr.Deepak Patankar for securing the 3rd position (98.8%) across all schools in the Sultanate of Oman in the CBSE Class X Board Examination 2024–25, in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement.
One of the key highlights of the programme was “Glimpses of Freedom Fighters”, a powerful presentation that brought history to life. Selected students of Classes VI and VII were dressed as the pioneers of India’s independence struggle and recited lines originally spoken by them, making the tribute highly engaging. Through visuals and narration, they honored legendary leaders of India’s freedom movement, including Chandrashekhar Azad, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rani Laxmibai, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
In another English speech, Ms. Aleena (IVA), Ms. Umaiza (IVA), and Ms. Noureen (IVF) highlighted the significance of the Constitution, adopted on 26 January 1950. Their speech emphasized its role in safeguarding freedom, equality, and unity, paid tribute to freedom fighters, and inspired everyone to respect the Constitution and contribute positively to the nation.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar extended warm wishes and highlighted the Constitution’s core values of freedom, equality, justice, and respect. He emphasized that this year’s celebration also marks the 150th birth anniversary of “Vande Mataram,” reflecting on unity, love for the nation, and the sacrifices of freedom fighters. He encouraged students to embody constitutional values and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to holistic education rooted in ethics and patriotism.
With deep emotion and patriotic spirit, Ms. Priyal Pitroda (VIIB) captivated the audience by reciting the Hindi poem “Vatan ki Dhadkan.” The programme continued with a vibrant Patriotic Dance by students of Classes VI and VII, blending grace with powerful expressions of national pride, which received enthusiastic applause.
The Republic Day celebration at Indian School Salalah concluded as a dignified and inspiring event, expressing gratitude to all involved and reinforcing patriotism along with the shared responsibility toward a just, inclusive, and progressive society.
