Salalah: It is a moment of immense pride and celebration for Indian School Salalah (ISS) as Mr. Ishwar Deshmukh, Senior Physical Education Faculty, dominated the field to clinch the first place at the recent Half-Marathon Wellness Walkathon.

The event, organized by Lifeline Hospital in association with FAS Academy Sports, the Ministry of Health, and Salalah Health City, was held on Friday in Salalah. Dubbed the “National Day Walkathon,” the event was organized with the objective of celebrating the unity, health, and spirit of Oman. The grueling course covered a distance of 21.1 km, starting at 5:00 AM from Lifeline Hospital and concluding at the Al Nasr Club.

Mr. Deshmukh, a veteran sportsman with a background in football and hockey, crossed the finish line with a spectacular time of 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 56 seconds. Maintaining a strong and consistent pace throughout the city course, he received a medal and a memento for this outstanding achievement.

This victory is a continuation of Mr. Deshmukh’s exceptional track record; he also holds the record for being the first to start and finish the 54 km wellness walk from Salalah to Al Mughsail (completed in 8 hours 04.09 minutes) in November 2024. Speaking on his victory, Mr. Deshmukh remarked that the achievement is a “testament to perseverance and dedication.”

Dr. Syed Ashan Jamil, President of the School Management Committee (SMC), along with the other esteemed members of the SMC and Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar extended their heartiest congratulations to Mr. Deshmukh. They commended his relentless spirit and his ability to lead by example, proving that age and distance are no barriers to a determined mind. The entire ISS fraternity celebrates this well-deserved win.
