PRIMARY SECTION CELEBRATES WORLD EARTH DAY

The Primary wing of Indian School Salalah enthusiastically observed Earth Day on April 22nd. The theme for the year 2025 was “Our Power, Our Planet. “The celebration focussed on fostering environmental awareness and responsibility among its students. The activities, effectively engaged students in learning about and celebrating our planet. A special highlight of the celebration was the distribution of 1400 seeds to almost 1355 students of the primary section, thoughtfully initiated by AVP Mrs Anita Rose.

As part of the celebration, students of classes 1 and 2 were given a Butterfly Pea (Aparajita) seed to plant. To raise awareness at home, each child received a badge with a meaningful quote about Earth Day. A daily checklist of eco-friendly activities was also provided to help students develop sustainable habits. Students, along with their class teachers, gathered on the school ground holding Earth Day placards. Together, they stood in solidarity with Mother Nature and took a pledge to uphold their responsibility in caring for the Earth.

To foster a continued sense of environmental stewardship, a snake plant was placed in each Class 1 and 2 classrooms. The day commenced with an Earth Day pledge, taken by both teachers and students, reinforcing their commitment to protect and preserve the environment. Following this, a meaningful song dedicated to Earth was displayed, setting a positive and reflective tone for the day’s observances.
Students of classes 3 and 4 indulged in a hands-on activity, in which they actively participated in planting seeds in paper cups. To further enhance their understanding, an informative video highlighting the significance of Earth day was displayed. To encourage a mindful environmental behavior, a checklist was distributed to the children. This interactive tool contained simple yet impactful actions students could incorporate into their daily lives to contribute to a healthier planet.
Adding a creative touch to the celebrations, students engaged in painting Earth Day badges. This artistic activity allowed for self-expression and served as a visual reminder of their commitment to environmental stewardship.
