Indian School Salalah celebrated Earth Day with a range of creative and educational activities on Tuesday, 22nd April 2025 aimed at promoting environmental awareness. The celebration began with an extended morning assembly, where Miss Maahi Vashista of Class X-C delivered an inspiring speech on the importance of trees and their vital role in sustaining life on our beautiful planet. The activities that followed reflected the school’s commitment to nurture environmentally conscious students through hands-on learning and meaningful expression.
The Eco Club, under the guidance of the Social Science Department, organized a meaningful Earth Day celebration. The event emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and encouraged students to adopt sustainable living practices. Through various engaging activities and presentations, students were inspired to take small yet impactful steps toward protecting our planet.
The programme was inaugurated by the Vice Principal, Mr. Mammikutty and AVP Mr. Vipin Das, who marked the occasion by planting a sapling, symbolizing a shared commitment to a greener future. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Unnikrishnan, Head of the Social Science Department, who highlighted the significance of Earth Day and stressed on the importance of active student participation in environmental protection efforts. The celebration concluded with a collective pledge by students to take small but impactful steps towards conserving nature. Overall, the Earth Day celebration served as an inspiring reminder of our responsibility towards the planet.
Grades 5 and 6 had a creative Bookmark Making Activity in their respective classroom to promote environmental awareness through art. The activity was both fun and educational, encouraging creativity while highlighting the importance of caring for the Earth. During the Science period the fifth-grade students took a pledge to protect and care for our planet. As a group, they committed themselves to various environmental responsibilities.
Grades 7 and 8 made the event more interesting by designing eco-friendly wristbands and badges, which they proudly wore throughout the day. The activity was both fun and meaningful, encouraging students to express their creativity while spreading the message of caring for the Earth.
Overall, this year’s Earth Day celebration was a grand success, filled with creativity, awareness, and meaningful participation. The enthusiasm and commitment shown by the students reflected their growing sense of responsibility towards the environment. Events like these not only educate but also empower young minds to become active contributors to a sustainable future.
