Report on World Students’ Day and Global Handwashing Day Celebration

Indian School Salalah celebrated World Students’ Day and Global Handwashing Day on 15th Oct with a series of meaningful activities conducted in the classrooms. The aim was to honor the legacy of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and promote student engagement, inspiration.

The global hand washing day was observed to create awareness about hygiene awareness and self-care.

The event commenced with an oath-taking ceremony inspired by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s vision, encouraging students to embrace positive values and aspirations. Following this, students created a picture collage with colourful imprints with  thumb and paint, symbolizing respect and unity.

In the Dream Quote Activity, students wrote about their dreams and aspirations on colourful cloud shaped paper or sticky note, inspiring them to reflect on their aspirations and dreams.

An extract from Dr. Kalam’s autobiography ‘Wings of Fire’, was read out to the students, providing insight into his life, achievements, and the values he championed.

To further commemorate World Students’ Day, thematic flyers with the message “Empowering Students as Agents of Innovation and Change” were shared in the class WhatsApp group.

For Global Handwashing Day, the theme “It might be gloves. It’s always hand hygiene.” was featured to highlight the importance of proper hand hygiene.

The function concluded with a demonstration of proper handwashing techniques by teachers, reinforcing the significance of hygiene among students.

Overall, these activities fostered inspiration, promoted hygiene awareness, and strengthened the spirit of unity among students, while commemorating the enduring legacy of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
