INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH PRIMARY SECTION REPORT ON KINDNESS DAY

International Day for Tolerance is observed in the primary section in classes 1-4 on 16th November to promote kindness, respect, and understanding among individuals.

To mark the occasion, in classes 1 and 2, a colorful flyer and the Tolerance Day song were thoughtfully shared by the class teachers in their respective WhatsApp groups. A Google Form was also circulated to gather students’ reflections on solving small problems, following rules, feeling happy when appreciated, and managing their emotions.

In the classroom, the Tolerance Day song was played to set the mood for celebration. Students then traced their friend’s hand on colorful sheets of paper and wrote a meaningful promise like I promise to be tolerant and accept people different from me.”  inside the palm of the hand cutout.

All the palm cutouts were then arranged and pasted on chart paper in the shape of a flower, creating a colorful and meaningful display.

The students participated enthusiastically, and the activity helped them understand the value of patience, respect, and acceptance. The initiative was well received by both students and parents and successfully conveyed the importance of tolerance in a simple and meaningful way.

Classes 3 and 4 also observed the day with a flyer and a message was shared in the respective classes

The central, hands-on activity of the day was the creation of a ‘Tolerance Cup’ in each classroom. Students were encouraged to decorate and label sections of their cup with meaningful phrases that promote social harmony:

I manage……….

I accept……………

I handle………………

This activity helped students internalize these concepts by allowing them to write, reflect on, and discuss them, making the abstract idea of tolerance more concrete and understandable.

The primary objective of the day was to foster an environment of understanding, acceptance and positive conflict resolution among young learners, emphasizing the critical role of tolerance in a diverse school community and was achieved through the activities.
