Indian School Salalah added another glorious chapter to its sporting achievements with an outstanding performance at the CBSE Oman Cluster Chess Tournament 2026-2027. The tournament was hosted by Indian School Al Maabela and held at the ISAM Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) on 11 September 2026 for Girls’ categories and 12 September 2026 for Boys’ categories. Conducted under the revised CBSE competition format, the tournament attracted 211 participants from schools across Oman, who competed in six challenging rounds with a time control of 15 minutes per player and a 3-second increment per move.

 

Demonstrating exceptional strategic thinking, concentration, and sportsmanship, the school’s chess teams secured top honours across multiple categories. A historic milestone was achieved by the Under-17 Girls’ Team, who emerged as CBSE Oman Cluster Champions in their very first participation in the category. Their confidence, consistency, and teamwork enabled them to maintain a strong lead throughout the tournament and claim the championship title. The team’s success was further enhanced by the outstanding performances of Miss Malavika and Miss Jewel, who received Individual Board Prizes.

The Under-14 Boys’ Team delivered an impressive performance to finish as Runner-Up, displaying remarkable composure, tactical planning, and team spirit throughout the competition. The Under-17 Boys’ Team also excelled, securing the Second Runner-Up position against strong opposition. Adding to the team’s achievement, Master Arunachalam N. earned an Individual Board Prize for his exceptional performance.

Making their debut in the tournament, the Under-11 Boys’ Team competed confidently against experienced teams from fourteen schools and finished in an impressive 5^th position. Their promising performance was highlighted by Master Safiyyul Adhyam, who was recognized with an Individual Board Prize.
