INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH CELEBRATES 79TH INDEPENDENCE DAY OF INDIA

Indian School Salalah commemorated the 79th Independence Day of India with hearts full of joy on Friday, 15 August 2025. The event was a stirring tribute to India’s rich heritage and enduring spirit of freedom held in the school auditorium at 8:30 am.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil (President of the School Management Committee), Principal, Mr. Deepak Patankar, esteemed members of the SMC, Mr. Rakesh Jha (President of Indian Social Club), Dr. Sanathanan (Honorary Consulate Agent, Indian Embassy), proud parents of Class X and XII toppers (2024–25), Vice Principal, Assistant Vice Principals, teaching and non-teaching staff, and student achievers.
The programme, conducted by the students of Grades VIII and IX and enthusiastic participation from the students of the Primary Section, began with a soul rendering Prayer Song, “Tere aage sab ek hain…”, followed by the National Anthems of Oman and India, symbolizing respect and pride for both nations.
With a vibrant Welcome Address, the celebration started in high spirits and heartfelt enthusiasm, leading to a series of performances that showcased the students’ patriotism and talent. The students of the Primary Section mesmerized the audience with a spirited Patriotic Action Song, “Sath chalein hum, Sath rahein hum”, followed by a Hindi Speech that reflected the pride and aspirations of young Indians. The students of Grades VIII and IX then took the stage with a powerful Patriotic Song, “Hum Bharat se hain, Hum Bharat ke hain”, and the Primary Section returned with an eloquent English Speech celebrating India’s journey from struggle to strength.
The Chairman, Academic Sub-Committee Dr. Sanyo Moosa, a proud alumnus of Indian School Salalah, delivered an inspiring address. He extended heartfelt gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman, especially His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq, for his unwavering support to the Indian diaspora in Oman, and acknowledged the cooperation of various Oman ministries.
Dr. Moosa paid tribute to India’s freedom fighters and highlighted the nation’s progress by referring to key points from the address of Honourable Indian President Smt. Draupadi Murmu. He noted India’s impressive economic growth, celebrated achievements in Science, space and sports—He concluded with a heartfelt message: “Let us work together to elevate India—a nation that is not only our country, but our pride.”
Vice Principal Mr. Mammikutty delivered a moving speech, expressing deep gratitude to India’s freedom fighters. He emphasized that the best way to honour their legacy is by living their values through action. He spoke of national integrity, unity in diversity, and the importance of a pluralistic society.
The highlight of the event was a dynamic Patriotic Dance by the students of Grades VIII and IX, which enthralled the audience with its energy and emotion. Class X and XII toppers in CBSE Board exam 2024-25 along with their proud parents were honoured with awards by the chief guest Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil (President of SMC) and other esteemed members of SMC. Assistant Vice Principals Mrs. Anita Rose and Dr. Vipin Das anchored the award ceremony-a truly memorable moment.
The programme concluded with a thoughtful concluding note, followed by refreshments for all attendees. The event was a beautiful blend of tradition, talent, and tribute—truly honouring India’s legacy while inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.
