INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH CELEBRATED VISHWA HINDI DIWAS

World Hindi Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour at Indian School Salalah on January 11, 2026, in the school auditorium. The programme was organized by the Hindi Department with the aim of promoting the Hindi language and highlighting its global significance. Vishwa Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year to spread awareness about Hindi as a connecting language that unites people, culture, and traditions across nations.

The programme commenced with a general welcome by the compering team, followed by a melodious prayer song that set a solemn and auspicious tone for the celebration. The occasion was graced by the valuable presence of the Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar, Vice Principal Mr. Mammikutty and Assistant Vice Principal Dr. Vipindas. They were accorded a warm welcome with Vishwa Hindi Diwas badges and unique garlands made of Hindi alphabet, creatively designed by the students.

Aayush Yogeshwar Patil of Class VII E formally welcomed the audience, and it was followed by an insightful speech by Divyaansh Dubey of Class VII G. In his speech he emphasized the role of Hindi in connecting people across the world. He also stressed the need to promote Hindi globally. The event was further enriched by inspiring slogans presented by the students of Class IV at different intervals, which added energy and motivation to the audience.

Students of Classes III and IV captivated the audience with a powerful street play conveying a strong social message against bullying titled “Stop Bullying’ The street play ended with the slogan “Dosti Jodo, Bullying Chhodo.” This was followed by a melodious group song “Hindi Bhasha, Rashtra Ki Bhasha…” which highlighted the pride and importance of the national language. Adding colour and energy to the celebration, students of Classes III and IV presented a graceful dance for the song “Hindi Hai Hum, Watan Hai Hindustan,” which received loud applause from the audience.

A vibrant debate ‘Vichar Manch’ on the topic “Advantages and Disadvantages of Social Media” was conducted next, in which students of Class VIII showcased their excellent debating skills in Hindi. Mr. Pramod Panicker, faculty member of the Hindi Department, moderated the debate and concluded it with a meaningful message that social media should be used responsibly and positively. Mrs. Veena Sundaresan, Senior Faculty of the Hindi Department, addressed the gathering and spoke about students’ responsibility to value and promote Hindi highlighting its national importance. She also spoke on the importance of the Hindi language in day-to-day life.

The programme concluded with  vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Juli P John, co-ordinator of the Department of Hindi. The comperes played a significant role in maintaining the lively flow of the programme. The celebration left the audience inspired and reinforced the importance of preserving and promoting the Hindi language.
