Empowering Educators: CPD Sessions on English Language Enhancement at INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH by English faculty

In a visionary initiative spearheaded by Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar, Indian School Salalah has embarked on a purposeful journey to enhance the English language proficiency of its teaching faculty through a thoughtfully curated series of English Enrichment Workshops. Driven by his personal conviction and commitment to the professional growth of teachers, the initiative has been embraced wholeheartedly by the English Department, which has taken the lead in transforming this vision into a meaningful reality.
The first workshop in this ongoing series was conducted on 3rd May 2025 by Mrs. Rachel Sajith (Subject in-charge-Primary English) and Mrs. Elizabeth (English faculty), dedicated educators from the English Department. Tailored specifically for teachers of Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2, the session focused on Communicative English and Vocabulary Building. The session was marked by hands-on activities, collaborative learning strategies, and practical language applications that aimed to enrich the teachers’ fluency, confidence, and classroom effectiveness. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants reflected the success and relevance of the session, setting an inspiring tone for subsequent workshops.
Building on the momentum, the second session was conducted by Mr. Amit Rathod (Senior English faculty) on Saturday, 10th May 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for the Middle School faculty. The focus areas of this workshop were Common Errors in English Usage and Listening Skills. The session was facilitated by the dynamic and engaging resource person, Mr. Amit Rathod, who captivated participants with his interactive approach and expertise. Teachers were actively involved in group discussions, worksheet exercises, and engaging listening activities, including song-based tasks and audio comprehension. These activities not only honed listening skills but also created an enjoyable and intellectually stimulating environment.
The presence, encouragement and the motivating words of the school’s senior leadership—including Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar, Vice Principal Mr. Mammikutty, Assistant Vice Principals Mr.Vipin Das and Mrs. Anita Rose, greatly motivated the participants. The Principal Mr.Deepak Patankar underscored the critical importance of continuously enhancing teachers’ language and communication skills. Key areas highlighted included the enrichment of language proficiency, the habit of reading to expand vocabulary, and the development of effective speaking abilities. The principal emphasized that these sessions should be an ongoing process, fostering continuous growth in these essential areas for all teachers.
Mr. Chidambaram Ramasamy, Head of the English Department, extended heartfelt appreciation to all the teachers for their commitment and expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of his department. With several more workshops scheduled in the coming months, this programme reflects the school’s enduring commitment to continuous professional development and quality education.
