INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH STUDENTS SECURE THIRD POSITION AT SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT COMPETITION 2026

A team of Class X students brought laurels to the school by securing third place at the Sustainability Project Competition 2026 hosted by Dhofar University. The two-day event was conducted as part of Sustainability Week from April 13 and 14, 2026, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from schools across the region.

Competing in the Secondary Students’ category, Aditya Bhuwan Chandra (10 A), Deon Anil Jacob (10 A), Paramveer Singh (10 D), and Aarav Malviya (10 C) presented an innovative project under the guidance of Mr. Samuel John from the Department of Social Science.

The project, titled “Rainwater Harvesting from Moisture/Fog and Waste-to-Wealth through Sustainable Agriculture and Green Energy,” reflected the theme of sustainability through practical and creative models. It featured a working model of a fog and moisture harvesting system, a semi-working miniature biogas plant, and a model demonstrating sustainable sugarcane cultivation. The display also included various by-products of sugarcane to emphasize complete resource utilization.

Through their presentation, the students demonstrated how fog and moisture harvesting can aid in recharging groundwater, how livestock waste can be transformed into green energy, and how sustainable agricultural practices can reduce dependence on chemical inputs. The project also highlighted the potential for employment generation and reducing reliance on imported sugar and paper products.

The competition was intense, with 26 teams participating. The team’s innovative approach and practical demonstration earned them the third position. All participants received certificates and token gifts, while the school was honoured with a shield in recognition of this achievement. SMC president Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, members of SMC and Principal Mr.Deepak Patankar appreciated the participants and the faculty of Social Science.
