PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA, SHRI NARENDRA MODI, ADDRESSED THE INDIAN COMMUNITY IN OMAN

The Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, addressed the Indian community during the Maitri Parv programme at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) on Thursday, 18 December 2025, during his two-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman. The event was attended by a large gathering, including over 700 students from Indian schools across Oman.

A team of 61 students and nine teachers headed by Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar representing Indian School Salalah travelled from Salalah to Muscat to participate in this prestigious event. The students expressed immense enthusiasm at the opportunity to see the Prime Minister in person and were deeply inspired by his message to the youth.

In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the strength of India’s cultural diversity and its role in enabling Indians to integrate globally. He described Maitri Parv as a celebration of the enduring friendship between India and Oman, their shared history, and a vision for a prosperous future. Elaborating on the theme of Maitri, the Prime Minister explained its components-M for Maritime Heritage, A for Aspirations, I for Innovation, T for Trust and Technology, R for Respect, and I for Inclusive Growth. He emphasized that India and Oman have enjoyed warm and vibrant relations for centuries.

The Prime Minister spoke about India’s transformational growth and its focus on innovation, start-ups, and digital public infrastructure. He reaffirmed the Government of India’s strong commitment to the welfare of the Indian diaspora. He assured that the nation stands by its people whenever and wherever they may need support He acknowledged that the success of Indian schools in Oman would not have been possible without the support of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said and expressed gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq for his continued support and protection of the Indian community in Oman.

Addressing the youth, he encouraged them to dream big, learn deeply, and innovate boldly, so that they may contribute meaningfully to humanity. The occasion was a moment of pride and inspiration for every student present.
