INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY CELEBRATION – 2025-26

Indian school Salalah has celebrated National Math Day on Tuesday,16th December’25 which was conducted by the Department of Mathematics. ‘’Mathematics-Art and Creativity” was the theme of the Math Day. The programme started at 11 am at the auditorium. Mr. Deepak Patankar, Principal, Mr. Mammikutty, VP, Dr. Vipin Das, AVP, Mrs. Anita Rose, AVP, Mr. Narayanankutty, HOD, Maths department and Mrs. Meena Venkat, Subject Incharge were present at the occasion.

The celebration commenced with a warm and inspiring welcome speech by Hanna Mary Jeemon         (XI-C), who highlighted the significance of National Maths Day and paid tribute to the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. Mr. T.K. Narayanankutty, Head of the Mathematics Department, presented an insightful report detailing the departmental activities and achievements during the year 2025-26. He emphasized the importance of fostering a love for mathematics among students and outlined future plans for the department. A captivating video showcasing the various activities conducted by the Maths Department throughout the year was played. It included glimpses of workshops, CPDs by teachers, Classroom activities, Inter school competitions, Maths Day celebration in classes, Art Integrated lessons etc.

Principal, Mr Deepak Patankar delivered an inspiring speech, appreciating the efforts of the Mathematics Department and the enthusiasm of students. He highlighted the relevance of mathematics in various domains and encouraged students to continue exploring its wonders, teachers to use innovative methods of teaching.

Students of Class XI, Aditya Verma (XI B), Ritish Sudarmani (XI B) presented an engaging PowerPoint presentation on “Mathematics in Movies.” They engaged the students throughout the performance by connecting great mathematical ideas with iconic movie moments such as Hardy Ramanujan Number, Archimedean spiral, Mobius strips etc The Maths Day celebration began with a poem by Meghna Antony (IX E) titled “Symphony of the digits” which highlighted the beauty of numbers, showing how every mathematical concepts, from operation to symbol, work together with logic, unity and creativity

After the poem Rubik’s cube Competition was held , Students from grades 3 and 4 participated in a thrilling Rubik’s Cube competition. Their impressive speed and strategies captivated the audience. Nathaniel Jacob Zachariah (IV A), Donal Joshy (IV C) and Elric Serin (IV H) won the first three positions respectively.  Maths puzzle and Memory Game were conducted between other programs. The event sparked curiosity and excitement among participants. It served as an excellent warm-up for the competitions to follow. Devanandan Sreekumar (VIII F) and Himani Rawat (VI B) were the winners of the puzzle and game respectively.

Cross Numerals competition for different categories drew enthusiastic participation from students across all grades. The competition showcased their logical thinking and quick problem-solving abilities. Aditya Bhuwan (IX A) was the winner of grade IX to XII category, Saajesh Arun (VIII A) was the winner of grade VII and VIII category and Advika Suresh (V B) was the winners of grade V and VI Category. Maths day celebration concluded with a poem titled “Zero to infinity” by Emil George (XI B) which showcases the journey of Ramanujan and his extraordinary rise from humble beginning to mathematical greatness.

Mr. Mammikutty , VP , Dr. Vipindas, AVP and Mrs. Anita Rose, AVP addressed the students, highlighting the value and relevance of mathematics in education and daily life. Certificates were distributed for the winners of different events by  Mr. Deepak Patankar, Principal, Mr. Mammikutty , VP , Dr. Vipindas, AVP and Mrs. Anita Rose, AVP. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Minta Eldose (IX F). She expressed gratitude to the Principal, Vice Principal, AVPs, faculty members, students and everyone who contributed to the success of the National Maths Day celebration.
