INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH CLINCHES RUNNERS-UP TROPHY AT SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION (STAI) 2025

Indian School Salalah has maintained a proud legacy of excellence across inter-school competitions in Oman—whether in academics, cultural pursuits, or sports. Living up to this tradition, the school once again demonstrated its caliber by securing the prestigious Runners-Up Trophy at STAI 2025, a distinguished initiative organized under the aegis of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in the Sultanate of Oman and hosted by Indian School Bousher from 17 Oct to 18 Oct 2025. Despite the challenges posed by long-distance travel and logistical limitations, our students displayed unwavering enthusiasm, resilience, and dedication throughout the event.

The Foundational and Preparatory level events were conducted within the respective schools, providing a dynamic platform for young learners to explore and express their scientific curiosity and innovative thinking. As part of STAI 2025, the Foundation Level event SciTech Nova in Me was conducted for Grades 1 and 2 under the STAI SPROUTS category. A remarkable total of 686 students registered for the event—312 from Grade 1 and 374 from Grade 2—reflecting the enthusiastic participation of our young learners. The final round for Grade 2 was held on 7th October 2025, followed by the Grade 1 final on 8th October 2025. Miss Vedhvika Sreejith (Class I A) and Miss Niha Niyas (Class I D) have emerged as the top achievers of Grade 1.

The SciTech Nova Crossword – Curiosity Champs (Grades III to V) event witnessed vibrant participation, with over 1,000 students competing across multiple rounds. From this enthusiastic pool, nine finalists emerged to showcase their skills in the concluding round held on 9th Oct 2025. The winners were Ms. Isha Fathima (V C, Master Ankit R. Nair (V H), Master Fataah Arif Kazi (III H), Ms. Dhriti Sudeesh (V C). All events for Grades 1 to 5 were conducted within the premises of Indian School Salalah, ensuring a familiar and encouraging environment for the participants.

 

Events for Grades VI to XII were conducted at Indian School Bousher, the host school. The delegation from Indian School Salalah embarked on their journey to Muscat on 16th October 2025, comprising 54 enthusiastic students and 7 dedicated teachers, under the leadership of Mr. Mohammad Javed, Head of the Computer Science Department and Lead Coordinator.

Indian School Salalah students participated in multiple events, including Innovatex, Future Labs Expo, Build a Bot, Story Telling, Elements Alive, and Scitechnova Quiz. Their outstanding performances across categories earned the school the Runners-Up Trophy at STAI 2025 — a proud achievement that reflected their hard work, innovation, and teamwork.

Two teams from Indian School Salalah participated in Innovatex- The SciTech–Business Fusion, where one team secured First Position and received the prestigious Sundar Pichai Trailblazing Technology Award for their outstanding presentation and business acumen.  Indian School Salalah fielded four teams in the Future Labs Expo—two each in the Senior and Junior categories. In the Senior category, one team clinched the Homi J. Bhabha Stellar Science Award for First Place in Science, while another earned the E. Sreedharan Ingenious Innovation Award for their outstanding innovation. In the Junior category, one team was awarded a B+ Grade, and the other received a Participation Certificate, recognizing their commendable efforts.

Indian School Salalah participated in two engaging Junior Category events. In Build a Bot, two teams competed, with one team securing the Second Position for their impressive design and functionality. In Story Telling, both teams showcased creativity and expression, earning a B+ Grade and a B Grade, respectively.

In Elements Alive: Science on Stage, two teams from Indian School Salalah showcased innovative live demonstrations. One team earned an A Grade, while the other secured a B+ Grade, reflecting their creativity and scientific flair. In the Scitechnova Quiz (Online Event), school-wise First Place was achieved by Master A. Arutchelvan Egan (Grade VII-C) – Junior Category Master Dhruv Maity (Grade IX-A) – Senior Category.

The outstanding achievements of Indian School Salalah students at STAI 2025 stand as a testament to their unwavering dedication, exemplary teamwork, and the consistent mentorship provided by their teachers.  President of the School Management Committee, Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, members of SMC and Principal Mr.Deepak Patankar extended heartfelt appreciation to all participating students and commended the teachers for their dedication and remarkable contributions to the success of STAI 2025.

Innovatex: The SciTech–Business Fusion Two teams represented the school:

  • One team’s exceptional presentation and business acumen earned them the First Position and the prestigious Sundar Pichai Trailblazing Technology Award. The winning team members were Jeffin Thomas Jacob (XI-B), Prattyush Dwivedi (X-D), Esther Kunnel Varughese (X-F), and Divyanka Padhy (X-C). This team was coordinated by Purnima Santosh.
  • The second team received a Participation Certificate, coordinated by Jojesh James.

Future Labs Expo Four teams participated — two in the Senior Category and two in the Junior Category.

Senior Category:

  • The team that won the Homi J. Bhabha Stellar Science Award for First Place in Science comprised Adithya Dev Paloli (XI-C), Aarif Muhammed Rawther (XI-C), Prijith Kuriakose (XI-C), and Angel Alphonse Joj (X-E).
  • The team that received the Sreedharan Ingenious Innovation Award for Innovation included Joshua Sunil Thomas (IX-H), Hannah Mary Jeemon (XI-C), Abhinand Dayapal Vattakat (IX-F), and Maria Sunil (IX-D).

These senior teams were coordinated by Mr. Sunit Garg and Ms. Bincy.

Junior Category:

  • One team received a B+ Grade, while the other earned a Participation Certificate. These teams were coordinated by Sindhu Gopal and Ms. Roshni G.

Build a Bot (Junior Category) Two teams participated:

  • The team that achieved the Second Position included Arutchelvan Egan Abraham (VII-C), Mohammed Shazain (VII-C), Muhammad Falaah (VI-G), and Asim Waeil Hashem (VI-G). The second team secured a B Grade. The event was coordinated by Shiny Miracle.

Story Telling (Junior Category) Two teams participated:

  • One team earned a B+ Grade, and the other a B Grade. The event coordinator was Abirami Manian.

Elements Alive: Science on Stage Two teams represented the school:

  • One team earned an A Grade, while the other secured a B+ Grade for their innovative live demonstrations.
    The event was coordinated by Kavitha Kazhini and Mrs. Anupama Latheesh.

Scitechnova Quiz (Online Event)

  • Junior Category: Master A. Arutchelvan Egan (Grade VII-C) secured First Place (School-wise).
  • Senior Category: Master Dhruv Maity (Grade IX-A) secured First Place (School-wise).

The remarkable achievements of the students stand as a testament to their dedication, teamwork, and the constant guidance of their mentors. The leadership of Mr. Mohammad Javed, along with the efforts of the accompanying teachers and event coordinators, played a vital role in ensuring the smooth coordination and success of the entire event.

The students were carefully scouted, trained, and guided by Mr. Mohammad Javed (HOD Computer Science), Mr.Shinoj Thomas (HOD Science), Mrs.Shubha (Science-Primary subject in charge, Ms. Kavitha Kazhini, Ms. Anupama Latheesh, Ms. Sandhya, Ms. Shiny Miracle, Ms. Abirami Manian, and Mr. Hriyaroop, whose mentorship ensured excellent preparation for all events.
