Anti-Tobacco Awareness Session at inaugural session of HSE club of IS Salalah for AY 2025-26
Indian School Salalah officially inaugurated its Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Club for the academic year 2025–26 on 5th August 2025, marking the occasion with a significant Anti-Tobacco Awareness Session. This event coincided with the spirit of World No Tobacco Day, observed globally on 31st May, and aimed to educate students about the detrimental effects of tobacco use.
The event began with a warm welcome address by Miss Kruti Kalpeshbhai Patel of Class 11 C, a proud member of the HSE Club. Her inspiring speech extended heartfelt greetings to the dignitaries, faculty, and newly inducted club members, setting a positive and enthusiastic tone for the event.
Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar officially inaugurated the HSE Club for the academic year 2025–26 with an empowering speech emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility within the school community. He encouraged students to actively participate in the club’s initiatives and highlighted the core objective of the club: to establish a safer, healthier, and more sustainable environment for all members of the school.
In his concluding remarks, Principal issued a compelling call to action, motivating students to collectively nurture habits of safety, sustainability, and health as guiding principles throughout the academic year. His address inspired members to contribute meaningfully to the club’s mission and activities.
The highlight of the event was the thought-provoking Anti-Tobacco Awareness Session conducted by Mr. Samuel John, faculty member of the Social Science Department. He delivered a detailed presentation on the health hazards and social consequences of tobacco use, emphasizing the critical importance of empowered refusal at a young age. Mr. Samuel encouraged students to become responsible citizens and advocates for change within their communities.
Following this session, Vice Principal Mr. Mammikutty addressed the audience, providing an overview of the HSE Club’s three major wings — Health, Safety, and Environment. He stressed that student involvement in safety training, environmental initiatives, and wellness programmes is essential for achieving the club’s objectives and making a significant impact.
Assistant Vice Principal Mr. Vipindas also shared motivating words, urging members to take the initiative and pursue the club’s activities with enthusiasm and a spirit of continuous learning.
The event concluded with Vote of Thanks delivered by Miss Anandita Singh of Class 9 G, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, speakers, coordinators, and participants for contributing to the success of the inaugural session.
The occasion was graced by Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar, Vice Principal Mr. Mammikutty, Assistant Vice Principals Mr. Vipindas and Mrs. Anita Rose, as well as HSE Club Coordinators Mr. Sinu Krishnan, Mrs. Reeshma Vijesh and all HSE Club members from Classes 6 to 12.
Overall, the inauguration and the Anti-Tobacco Awareness session marked a successful beginning to the new academic year for the HSE Club, inspiring students to embrace a lifestyle grounded in health, safety, and environmental consciousness.
