APPEAL TO PARENT COMMUNITY OF INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH

Dear Parents

Greetings from Indian school Salalah! Wishing everybody a happy new year!

We all are going through one of the most challenging times of the century and we all are fully determined to overcome this challenge and emerge as winners against the COVID 19 pandemic. As the Indian school Salalah community we are determined to continue with our teaching and learning journey during this unprecedented times and have been working continuously to ensure that the learning process of our kids do continue although at a slow pace.

Online teaching and learning: ISS has initiated the process of online learning for the entire school and we will continue to do so for the period up to summer break. The following are the features:

• The online teaching will be done using our current app ZOMENT.
• All learning material, videos, activities sheet, assignments etc. shall be made available through the app and from the school website.
• The class scheduling is being done to accommodate parents having only one smart phone and three children in the school.
• School has made a special request to OMANTEL to allow free usage of data for mobile phone users if they access the school website for material downloads etc. We are waiting for their response.
• As we are aware that there are parents with no device and their children will be left out during the session the school shall arrange for complete revisions of lessons to facilitate these students, whenever the school reopens.
• Online teaching and learning will effectively engage the students who otherwise would be sitting idle at home losing crucial time which should be put to effective usage as there is no other alternative for learning.
• As lock down has a lot of psychological impact on adolescents, therefore parents are encouraged to make use of the round the clock tele counselling service at 90990444

Payment of School Fees: ISS is a community school and it survives only on the school fees collected from parents. The entire budget is based on no profit no loss basis. In fact, the salary cost of its employees constitute 90% of its annual budget. For the year 2019-20 i.e. last year,  the outstanding fee payment still due from parents as on 10 April, 2020 is RO 2,52,000. The school is already in a very difficult financial situation and we seek the full support of the parent community. However, we are also well aware about the difficult times many parents are going through and will be going through tough financial situations. Keeping this in mind ISS has decided to give the following facilities to its parent community.

• The parents will have the option to pay their child fee in monthly mode via bank transfers/ online modes already communicated to all. The entire schedule of fees is uploaded on the school website for easy reference with all details of how to remit the fees. The school fees counter shall remain closed as per the directives of the ministry.
• ISS has also decided as per BOD directives to waive off annual increase in fees for the month of April to July for the current year for all its students.
• The parents from humble background shall be offered fee concessions for ONLY one child as given below for the academic year 2020-21, based on providing evidence for the same as per laid down procedure of the school. The concession is subject to the parent paying the monthly fees regularly.

The school management committee, administration, teachers and staff of ISS are all committed to provide all possible support to the ISS family in this challenging situation and request the parent community to help the school by clearing all old dues expeditiously. We are sure that we will overcome this current pandemic crisis very soon. Let’s all come together and sincerely adhere to the advices and directives of the government and support its initiative for our own benefit
