INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH CELEBRATES NATIONAL UNITY DAY
The 143rd Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel popularly known as ‘Iron Man of India’ was celebrated enthusiastically by the students of Indian School Salalah on 31st October 2018. Every year his birth anniversary is celebrated as ‘National Unity Day’ also known as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Divas’ to commemorate the efforts made by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to unite India as one nation. Principal Mr T.R.Brown and Vice-Principal Academics Dr Shivprasad Murgan graced the occasion.
Various events were organized to provide an insight to re-affirm the need to maintain the inherent strength of the nation. Master Aiman of grade VIII-H welcomed the gathering and briefed about the importance of unity. Miss Irine Anna Sunil of grade VIII-C gave a speech on the occasion expressing views on “Contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for unity, safety and security of India”.
A group mash-up song in praise of India’s golden past was presented by students of grade VIII . Fusion dance showcasing the rich diversified culture of India by students of grade VIII left the audience spell-bound. It was a real attraction of the day as the audience cheered loud and also tried to groove along with the performers. They expressed Unity as a core idea among diversity of style, costumes, language and expressions.
A special group song “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara” which is a harmonious blend of 20 languages sung by the students of grade VIII mesmerized the gathering. The audience were carried away in the melody and was found actively participating in it. The idea was to infuse in the young values integrated with knowledge and adoration about country’s rich cultural heritage. The programme concluded with thanks giving by anchors Miss Kesiya and Miss Aleesha of grade VIII C. The entire proceeding was coordinated by the Social Science Department of Indian School Salalah.
