SCOUTS AND GUIDES CAMP HELD AT INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH
The Indian School Salalah organized scouts and guides camp on 22 and 23 February in the school premises. The program commenced with Thinking Day celebration. A special assembly was conducted in the morning by classes 5 to 8. Students of class 8 performed a street play on this year’s theme ‘IMPACT’ that we have on the lives of our members and their communities. Students of class 6 delivered informative talk on ‘Baden Powell’, the founder of the scout movement.
The students reported at 4:30 pm for the most awaited two days Annual Camp which was held on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd February 2018 at the Indian School Salalah campus, under the leadership of Mrs.Ponni Bhaskar, In charge scouts and guides unit. 263 students from Classes 6 to 8, 5 Scout Masters and 9 Guide Captains attended the camp. The camp commenced with a session about camping rules and regulations by their respective Scout Masters and Guide Captains. The scouts and guides enjoyed and learnt many skills during the camp.
Many sessions were organized like camp songs, knot sessions, craft of different kinds by Scout Masters and Guide Captains. The scouts and guides learnt the life skills of adjusting with others and sharing and caring.
Later an interactive and informative session with Dr. Abubacker Siddique (Member, SMC) on dental care enlightened the scouts and guides with the tips on dental care. Children clarified their doubts related to dental care in the interactive session with Dr.Abubacker Siddique. During the camp fire, scouts and guides showcased their talent by performing various skits, songs and street plays .The children enjoyed many interesting yells which were taught by Scout Masters and Guide Captains. The second day witnessed BP exercises, self defense demonstration, flag ceremony, all faith prayer and sessions on camp skills. Prizes were distributed to all Scouts and Guides for competitions.
Mrs Ponni Bhaskar Incharge Scouts and Guides thanked the President of the School Management Committee Dr Debashish C Bhattacharya, other members of SMC, Principal Mr. T R Brown for their co operation and constant support for encouraging Scouts and Guides. The school management committee members Dr. Syed Ashan Jamil (Convenor of SMC), Dr. Abubacker Siddique, Mr. Manivannan J, Mr Vinay Kumar, the treasurer and Principal Mr T R Brown, Vice Principal Mrs. Omana Mathews , Asst. Vice Principals, HODS and In charges visited the camp to encourage the students.
Over all it was an interesting camp that was interactive and beneficial for the scouts and guides.
