INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH CELEBRATED THE 69th INDIAN REPUBLIC DAY

Indian School Salalah celebrated the 69th Republic Day on 26th January 2018 in the school premises. The patriotic fervor warmed up the cold winter morning as the teachers, parents and students gathered zealously for the celebration. The day  witnessed the presence of the chief guest - President of the School Management Committee Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya, other esteemed members of the School Management Committee, Ex-members of the School Management Committee, Chairman, Indian Social Club Mr. Manpreet Singh, Members of the Indian Social Club, Principal Mr. T.R Brown, Vice Principal Mrs Omana Mathews, Assistant Vice Principals, Incharges and Heads of the Department.

The celebration commenced with the Indian National Anthem followed by the Oman National Anthem and the prayer song by the school choir. Miss Kesiya Sunil of class VII welcomed the gathering. Dr.Debashish C Battacharya, President of the School Management Committee, in his address said, “26th January is the most treasured moment of time when fledgling new little India moved from the new little stage to the infantile stage, into the world of Republic Nations of the sovereign democratic republic in 1950, the Republic Day of India.” He stressed on the fact that 2 years, 11 months and 18 days of deliberation led by Dr. B. R Ambedkar, led first to the conceptualization of the preamble of the Constitution of India which signifies four important letters-JLEF which stands for Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. He concluded the speech by emphasizing that it is the responsibility of each and every one in the society to breathe, preach, cultivate, amalgamate, activate, motivate and scintillate these qualities in the future generation to take India  to the next century in a glorious way. A standing ovation and a salute was given to Captain Sukdev and Mr. Sanjeev Singh (Member SMC), Ex- military, as a mark of respect to all the Indian soldiers for  protecting their nation.

 The emphatic speech in Hindi by Israa Mohi of class VII amplified one’s patriotic spirit. She stressed on the fact that it was on this day that India ceased to be a constitutional monarchy and became the Republic of India. The cultural programme commenced with a dazzling dance performance by the tiny tots of classes 1 and 2 which mesmerized the audience. The melodious patriotic song sung by the students of class VII filled the heart of everyone with true patriotic spirit. Children’s love for their motherland displayed through scintillating dance performances by the students of classes 3 & 4 and class VII captivated the audience and stirred up the spirit of patriotism. The brilliant skit titled “We the Children of the Constitution” dealt with the Fundamental Rights of the citizens of India, explicitly throwing light to the ‘Right to Equality before Law’ in which gender equality and the importance of educating a girl child were emphasized.

On this auspicious day, the students from classes 1 to 4, who excelled in various co curricular activities, were honoured by the dignitaries, the heads of the departments and the teachers who are retiring after long service. The overall championship position in CCA in the Primary Section was bagged by Blue House and the runners up position by Yellow House. The championship trophy was given away by the President of the School Management Committee Dr. Debashish C Battacharya, executive members of SMC along with Principal Mr. T.R Brown. Class X, Perfect10 scorers for the academic year 2016-17 were honoured with the Certificates of Merit from CBSE. Mementos were given away to Master Saurabh Singh of class XI and Master Mihir of Class X for securing the 4th position in the Inter School Maths Quiz Competition conducted at Wadi Kabir School Muscat. The prize distribution was drawn to a close by giving away prizes to the Quiz teams that bagged the first, second and the third position in the Heritage Indian Quiz conducted by the Social Science Department.

The celebration came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Master Goutham Krishna of class VII and it was followed by the distribution of sweets. The compering team of class seven students was appreciated by one and all.
