In a bid to alleviate the common issue of exam anxiety, the school recently held a workshop titled "Conquering the Test: Handling Exam Anxiety" for its VIII grade students. The two-day event, conducted on September 4th and 8th, 2024, aimed to equip students with practical strategies to manage stress and bolster their confidence in preparation for their upcoming first term exams.
The workshop, held in the school auditorium, divided the entire VIII grade into two groups to facilitate focused and interactive sessions. The primary objective was to address and mitigate the anxiety that often accompanies academic assessments.
The session began by helping students recognize the physical and behavioral signs of anxiety. Common sources of stress identified included fear of failure, performance pressure, and insufficient preparation. By acknowledging these factors, students could better understand and manage their anxiety.
The resource person, Ms Meghasree, gave some valuable tips on topics such as time management, self- talk, breathing exercise, physical activity, balanced diet and sleep hygiene.
The interactive nature of the workshop allowed students to actively participate in identifying their personal anxiety triggers. Through engaging stories and real-life examples, they learned how effective academic preparation can significantly reduce anxiety.
The session concluded with a motivational address by the Asst. Vice Principal Mr. Vipindas, who congratulated the top performers and offered encouraging remarks to inspire all students to excel in their forthcoming exams.
Overall, the workshop successfully equipped VIII grade students with a range of tools to handle exam anxiety. By providing practical techniques and fostering a deeper understanding of their stressors, the session aimed to improve students' approaches to exams and enhance their academic performance.
