Indian School Salalah commemorated the 78th Independence Day of India on August 15, 2024, with profound zeal and patriotism. The event was graced by the presence of the Chief guest, Dr.Abubacker Siddique, (President of SMC), Dr.Shaji. P. Sreedhar, (Treasurer, SMC), other esteemed members of SMC, Mr.Rakesh Jha (President of Indian Social club), Dr. Sanathanan, (Honorary Consulate Agent, Indian Embassy), former members of SMC, parents, teachers and students. The celebration began with a formal welcome followed by a heartfelt prayer song that set a serene and respectful tone for the event. The audience then united in pride as the National Anthems of Oman and India were sung, enhancing the sense of patriotism.

President SMC Dr. Abubacker Siddique in his address eloquently highlighted the profound values of liberty, courage and the accompanying responsibilities also towards our motherland India. “Let us strive to be custodians of the freedom we have inherited, ensuring that it is preserved and enriched for future generations”, he quoted. Following this evocative oration, the students from classes III and IV rendered a soul stirring patriotic song with remarkable fervor and exuberance.

The programme proceeded with a compelling speech in Hindi by Ms. Manahil-III H and Mast. Hamza-IV H that enraptured the audience, followed by a fervent patriotic song by students of class VIII and IX which amplified the spirit of nationalism. Ms. Nicole -IX B then delivered a lucid speech in English which profoundly resonated with the audience, capturing the very essence of Independence Day. Adding a lively touch to the celebration, the students of classes III and IV presented an engaging dance performance, reflecting the joy and vibrancy of young India.

Mr. Jabir Sharif, member SMC took the stage to deliver an insightful speech on the “Happiness and Wellness Center” at Indian School Salalah, illuminating its vision and objectives. His address emphasized the center's role in fostering an environment that prioritizes the mental and emotional well-being of our students. Following this was the digital inauguration of Happiness & Wellness centre by Dr.Abubacker Siddique (President of SMC) and an illuminating presentation,  marking a significant milestone in the school’s ongoing dedication to nurturing the overall well-being of its students.

Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar delivered his address commending the efforts of students and staff for resounding success in Board Examination 2023-2024 and bringing laurels in various scholastic and non-scholastic domains. He emphasized the core values of Independence Day and highlighted the achievements of India in all fields.

Students from classes X and XII were honoured  by the chief guest, other esteemed members, dignitaries and Principal for their exceptional academic achievements in CBSE Board Examination 2023-2024. The event concluded with a  vote of thanks proposed by Vice Principal Mr. Mammikutty, acknowledging everyone who contributed to the event’s success.

In conclusion, the Independence Day celebration at Indian School Salalah was a resounding success, embodying the spirit of patriotism and national pride.
