The Primary Section of Indian School Salalah celebrated its 37th Annual day on Saturday 16th December 2017 amidst great zest, vibrance and elation in the school premises. The School band sprang into tune when the Chief guest Mr.Wilson.V.George-Chairman, BOD-Indian Schools in Oman and the Guest of Honour Ms. Asavari Deoras Director, Board of Directors for Indian schools in Oman arrived. They were received by Dr. Debashish C. Bhattacharya  President of the School Management Committee, other esteemed Members of the School Management Committee,  Mr. T.R. Brown, the Principal and the student council members of the school. Miss. Kannan Bhatia and Miss. Twisha of class 4 D presented a bouquet to the Chief guest and Guest of Honour . The auspicious event commenced with the National Anthem of Oman and India.

 Dr. Biju T. Sayed, the Vice President of the School Management Committee extended a very warm welcome to the chief guest Mr.Wilson.V.George-Chairman, BOD-Indian Schools in Oman - and the Guest of Honour Ms. Asavari Deoras Director, Board of Directors for Indian Schools in Oman, other dignitaries, invitees and parents. He highlighted the progress of the school and the efforts  taken by the SMC to meet out the growing strength of the school,  the welfare of the staff and students. He then urged the parents to lay stress upon inculcating values in their children.

 

The Chief Guest Mr. Wilson V. George Chairman, Board of Directors for Indian Schools in Oman in his address complimented the school for playing a crucial role in instilling knowledge.. He also congratulated the school for maintaining a good track record in school academics and co-curricular domains during the academic year 2017-18. He appreciated the teachers for their untiring efforts in creating a healthy and congenial environment for the students. He expressed his gratitude towards the parents, teachers and members of the committee for their relentless support given for the betterment of the school.

 

The Guest of Honour Ms. Asavari Deoras Director, Board of Directors for Indian Schools in Oman expressed her immense happiness over her presence at the function. She emphasized the pivotal role of teachers in the path of learning and appreciated them for their noble service. She encouraged the parents to get actively involved in the growth of their children by spending quality time with them.

 

Mr. T.R. Brown, the Principal presented the eventful School Annual Report tracing the progress made in the scholastic and non-scholastic areas during the academic session 2017-18. He,elaborated on the laurels and achievements of the school in various sports and cultural events. He felt proud as he called up on stage International level Competition Winners Mast. Hridith Sudev and Mast. Asim Shaikh of class XII. He concluded by throwing the spotlight on the new ventures of the school-The Standardized Aptitude Test, New school website, Centre for Special Education and the School Monitored Safe Transport System.

As a token of appreciation and gratitude Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya, President School Management Committee, other esteemed members of the committee and  Principal Mr.T.R.Brown presented the mementoes to the Guests of Honour  Mrs. Asavari Deoras and the Chief Guest Mr. Wison V. George for their gracious and lustrous presence at the event. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Jose Kaviyil Chacko, Member, School Management Committee. In his speech, he extended his gratefulness to one and all who made this occasion a memorable one.

The cultural extravaganza commenced with the scintillating ‘Welcome dance’ and ‘The folk dances of India’ by the tiny tots of LKG followed by UKG staging the musical skit ‘Unity’ and the magical show ‘The Wizard of Oz’. The students of Classes 1 and 2 left a deep impact on the audience with the Musical skit ‘Jhansi Ki Rani”. It depicted the life of the brave and courageous woman ‘Jhansi ki Rani’ through a blend of drama and danceIt was an astounding visual treat which filled the hearts of the audience with the spirit of patriotism and pride. The International dances by the students of Classes 1 and 2, was performed with great exuberance, unmatched zeal and rhythm, too received a huge applause.

 

The Primary choir of classes 3 and 4 stole the hearts of the audience with the soulful rendition of the song ‘Chiquitita’. It was a soul stirring rendition of the fact that we can achieve success only when we try.  The English musical drama ‘Metilda’ was a journey into thriving compassion among characters and heart touching scenes interwoven into a dramatically overwhelming play by the students of Classes 3 and 4. The play also had musical elements to bring symphony and melody into life. The Contemporary dance with the theme of women empowerment and the Santhali dance brought forth the culture and tradition of India in all its glory. The synchronized dance movements to the foot tapping music enthralled the audience.  The programme was an amalgamation of various hues and the students spread the colours of peace and happiness. The variety of cultural programmes mesmerized the audience.
