National Youth Day is the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, one of India’s greatest leaders. He believed in youth as the hope of one’s future and backbone of the Nation and inspired them to persevere and achieve greater goals in life.
Indian School Salalah observed the National Youth Day on 10th January 2024 and the HSE club took it up successfully. A session against Drug Abuse was organized mainly to educate the student club members about the health hazards associated with the use of drugs as it is the one responsible for destroying the lives of the youth. Principal Mr.Deepak Patankar, Vice Principal Mr.Mammikutty, A.V.P. Mr.Vipin Das and the Club In-charges were present for the session.
Mrs.Prema.G.K. from the Dept. of Science took up the session on “Say yes to life and no to Drugs” for all the student club members of the HSE club. Various facts related to drugs and the reasons of teen drug abuse which includes curiosity, peer pressure, stress, desire to escape from one’s own problems etc., was dealt through the presentation.
The teacher captured the attention of the students towards the impact of the narcotic drugs on the various vital organs by using informative slides and by voicing out catchy Anti- drug slogans which were then repeated by the students.
Principal Mr.Deepak Patankar emphasized on the harmful effects of using alcohol and drugs. He also stressed on the importance of awareness sessions to empower students to make responsible choices. On the whole, the session was interactive and the children responded well throughout. By joining hands in this endeavor, students will play an active role in building a healthy and a safe life style.
