BUSINESS TYCOON DR. P.MOHAMED ALI  PRESIDES OVER

INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH’S 37^TH ANNUAL DAY

Indian School Salalah celebrated its 37th Annual Day with an array of cultural and entertainment programme in the evening, Thursday, 14th of December, 2017 with vibrant energy, enthusiasm and elation. Gracing the occasion, Dr. P.Mohamed Ali, Co-founder, Galfar Engineering & Construction Co. and Chairman, Caledonian College of Engineering presided over the function as the Chief Guest. Dr. C. M. Najeeb, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman and DIC, Indian School Salalah also graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

Prof. Dr. Hassan Said Kashoob (Vice-chancellor, Dhofar University), Dr. Siddique (President, SMC, Indian School Muladha) and Dr. Raziya Mohamed Ali w/o Dr. P.Mohamed Ali were also present with their esteemed presence for the occasion.

The chief guest Dr. P.Mohamed Ali, Co-founder, Galfar Eng. & Const. Co. and Chairman, Caledonian College of Engineering, the guest of honour Dr. C. M. Najeeb, Vice Chairman, BOD, Indian Schools in Oman and DIC, Indian School Salalah and the other dignitaries were given a warm reception on their arrival here at school by Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya, the President, School Management Committee with his colleagues in SMC and Mr. Trevor Ronald Brown, the Principal.  
Master Hridith Sudev, Head Boy and Miss. Ritika Raju, Head Girl pinned the badges to the chief guest, the guest of honour and the dignitaries along with Master Saurabh Singh, Deputy Head Boy and Miss Greeshma Rosario, Deputy Head Girl. They were then escorted to the seats with the accompaniment of school band and as a token of love and appreciation, bouquets were presented to them.
The formal function in the evening, as per school tradition, commenced with the Royal Anthem of Oman and the National Anthem of India.
Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya, the President of School Management Committee extended a cordial welcome to the chief guest Dr. P.Mohamed Ali, Co-founder, Galfar Eng. & Const. Co. and Chairman, Caledonian College of Engineering, the guest of honour Dr. C. M. Najeeb, Vice Chairman, BOD, Prof. Dr. Hassan Said Kashoob (Vice-chancellor, Dhofar University), Dr. Siddique (President, SMC, Indian School Muladha), Dr. Raziya Mohamed Ali, all the  invitees, guests and parents for their esteemed presence at 37th Annual Day celebration. Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya, when talking about the chief guest, Dr. P.Mohamed Ali highlighted his copious contributions to the society and declared him the Personality of the Year – 2017.
Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, Convener, SMC introduced the chief guest, Dr. P.Mohamed Ali, Co-founder, Galfar Eng. & Const. Co. and Chairman, Caledonian College of Engineering to the august gathering. Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil very elaborately spoke about the chief guest giving special mention of his education, great contributions to society as well as in the field of education, his humanitarian activities, business, the prestigious educational institutions set up by him and so on.
The chief guest, Dr. P.Mohamed Ali expressed his gratitude to the management, administrative as well as academic staff and students of IS Salalah for the welcome and hospitality extended to him. Talking about dream and success in life he said, “My dreams connect my present to the future. It sometimes keep me awake even at mid-night and provokes me to do more.” He further told that success in life although inspired him, failures did not make him blind. Dr. P.Mohamed Ali while sharing his opinion about dependence on technology highlighted the nature of interdependence of human being in life.
It was indeed a treasured moment when, with a shawl and memento, the chief guest Dr. P.Mohamed Ali along with Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya, President, SMC, Mr. T R Brown and the dignitaries on the stage felicitated Dr. C. M. Najeeb, Vice Chairman, BOD who had recently been conferred Honorary Doctorate for his meritorious services in the field of education by Commonwealth Vocational University of Tongo.
The guest of honour Dr. C. M. Najeeb appreciated the President, SMC and congratulated the administration for leading the school to greater heights. He lauded the staff for their dedication and hard work. He was highly elated at things happening at Indian School Salalah. Dr. C. M. Najeeb urged the parents to assume the great sense of responsibility for the academic excellence of their wards in forthcoming board examinations.
As usual in every Annual Day, the most coveted best outgoing student Award was announced. Master Hridith Sudev, school Headboy was the proud recipient of the award and the respected  Vice-principal, Mrs. Omana Mathews had the privilege to announce the award. Master  Sudev  was presented with a pure gold coin.(sponsored by Mr.Vimal Toprani)
As a mark of great appreciation, love and good wishes, the chief guest, Dr. P.Mohamed Ali was presented with a shawl, plaque, sword and memento. Mementoes were also presented to Prof. Dr. Hassan Said Kashoob (Vice-chancellor, Dhofar University), Dr. Siddique (President, SMC, Indian School Muladha) and Dr. Raziya Mohamed Ali.
It was yet another proud moment when, in special way, Mrs. Omana Mathews was felicitated as a mark of tribute to her great services of 35 long years to the institution.                                                          
To mark the end of the formal function, Dr. K A Nishthar, Co-convener, SMC proposed the vote of thanks. He while doing so, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said for his benevolence and graciousness towards Indian communities in Oman. He also thanked the chief guest Dr. P.Mohamed Ali and the guest of honour Dr. C. M. Najeeb, Prof. Dr. Hassan Said Kashoob and all other dignitaries for their eminent presence for the occasion. The President of SMC, Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya, the Principal, Mr. T. R. Brown, members in SMC, Vice-principal, Mrs. Omana Mathews, Asst. Vice-principal (Admin) Mr. S. Srinivasan, Asst. Vice-principal (Academics) Mr. C T Ramasamy, teaching staff and Mr. Nobin and his team were also duly thanked for their best effort to make the celebration a grand success.
Much awaited - Cultural Extravaganza was staged on the school main stage which was bedecked in colour and was given the digital back drop
To have a holy and elegant beginning – a mark of  undying tradition to invoke the blessings of almighty, Bharatnatyam – classical group dance was staged. Next in the series that had a sublimating effect was a journey through the classic Malayalam Folk Dance that would transport one back to another time and space that narrate the value of guru-shishya relationship found in numerous variant forms in Indian mythology.
The dance, ‘Go Green’ in contemporary style with ‘environmental choreography’ conveyed an artistic experience in nature that upholds present-day environmental ethical values in life. When the Fusion dance staged as the fifth event of the day, showcased the  exuberance of the youth in perfect rhythm, the ‘Duels’, staged as the seventh item encompassed various stunning postures with moving screens. Both were highly appreciated as evidenced by the resounding applause they received.
The girls’ mime conveying the spirit of Indian independence through ‘Incredible India’ beautifully expressed national sentiments. ‘The Diamond Necklace,’ dramatized version of the world famous story by Guy de Maupassant, brought on to the stage the human nature that greed for more and more leads to ultimate misery. The Hindi skit ‘Sankiyon Ka Sailab’ was all the more humorous in its script and presentation yet based on  theme that let individuals remain the same in their uniqueness; let not try to change them.
The school choir on ‘Hall of Fame’ beginning with “You can be the greatest, you can be the best …” had a rapturous force to stay tuned on all the while, where as the Orchestra, an amalgam of Indian, Western and Chinese notes and tunes exhibited an ever thrilling and rocking effect on the core.
As a matter of fact, one of significant parts in the cultural evening was the effort of the compering team who, with an effective script, knew about all the skills and tricks to keep the audience entertained and amused.
The curtain fell on the brightly lit and beautifully bedecked stage with an unprecedented upsurge of hopes and promise of even brighter and glorious gaiety for the years to come.
