National Sports Day is celebrated every year on 29th August in India to mark the birth anniversary of The Wizard of Indian Hockey- MAJOR DHYAN CHAND. This annual observance is held to pay tribute to the enduring legacy of Major Dhyan Chand in the field of sports. The day also serves as a reminder that sports has the incredible power to transcend boundaries and bring people together in pursuit of a common goal.  

The theme for National Sports Day 2023 celebration was “Sports are an enabler to an inclusive and fit society”. It aims at implementing inclusive sports, inclusive youth leadership opportunities that lead to meaningful change in creating a socially inclusive society that supports and engages learners of all age groups.  Indian School Salalah under able guidance of Principal Mr.Deepak Patankar and monitoring of Physical Education Department Teachers celebrated “NATIONAL SPORTS DAY” on 28th August 2023 with various sporting activities.

PRIMARY SECTION (Classes I and II): Students of classes I and II celebrated National Sports Day in K.G. Block of school under supervision of class teachers and physical education department teachers. Fit India Pledge was administered by class teachers. Activity organised for primary section were ‘Musical chairs’ and ‘Game changer’. Students excitedly participated in these games and enjoyed playing wholeheartedly. It was indeed a treat to eyes of everyone present. AVPs, VP and Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar were in presence for the event.

SENIOR SECTION (Classes VI to XII): National Sports Day for students of senior section was celebrated at school premises. Students from VI to XII along with their teachers, HODs, AVPs, VP and Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar were present on the school ground for the occasion with great sportsman spirit and enthusiasm. All students were dressed in their sports uniform. The event commenced with special assembly. Fit India Pledge was administered by Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar. The pledge aims to inspire people to participate in physical activity and sports in their daily routines, emphasising the importance of staying fit and active. There were many sports events that were carried out class wise throughout the day. These events included chess, Kho kho, Tug of war and basketball. The day was filled with a lot of exciting sports activities.
