As part of its 40th year celebration, Indian School Salalah organized a grand football shoot out for its students, parents and alumni on 24th November 2022 it the school playground. A large number of teams participated in the mega event which was cheerfully witnessed by the football fans and stake holders of the school. The event was graced by the presence of the esteemed SMC members, Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar, AVPs-Mr. Vipin Das and Mrs.Anita Rose.
The shootout tournament was held for two categories- for the students from 5 pm and for the parents and alumni from 9.30 pm. The football world cup fever was clearly visible in the fields of Indian School Salalah also. All the teams were in different jerseys which added colour to the evening. A choir of singers from various classes made the evening an enthralling one with their song on football.
The students’ tournament was kicked off by the chief guest- co-convenor of SMC-Mr. Navneetha Krishnan. He compared the goal keeper’s role with that of a teacher and encouraged all the participants in his brief address. Overall, 35 teams participated in this segment. The semi finals were fought between Zufar FC vs United FC and La Masia vs WalAllah. By pounding powerful shots, Zufar FC and WalAllah stormed into the finals. At the end of the next few nail-biting moments, WalAllah team by Zaahar, Muhammed, Muhammed Amen, Febin, Saif and Shahzor emerged victorious. Their goalkeeper Shahzor saved several goals.
The winners were given away the trophy by the President of the School Management Committee, Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil and Principal Mr.Deepak Patankar and the medals were given away by Dr. Navneetha Krishnan, Co-convenor, SMC. The ‘runners up’ trophy was given away to Zufar FC by Dr. Muhammed Yousoof, Convenor, SMC while the trophy for the second runner up was given away by Dr. Shaji Sreedhar, Member SMC and Chairman, Purchase and Infrastructure Committee. The best goal keeper trophy was given away to Master Shahzad by Dr. Navneetha Krishnan, Co-convenor, SMC. The gift food coupons to the winners team was given away by Mr.Mohammed Jabir Sharif, member SMC & Chairman-CSE sub committee.
Another thrilling event was the ladies’ football shoot out. Cool Clan, led by Ms Cini Jayaprakash lifted the trophy while Grace Re-Loaded led by Ms Purnima bagged the runner up position. The victorious team was given away the trophy by the special invitee Mrs. Sabeeha Naheed Ali.
The second part of the tournament for the parents and alumni was kicked off by Mr. Yaser Mohammed M.V, member, SMC and Chairman-C.C.A & 40th year celebration committee. There were 14 teams. Teams of many communities, Alumni, wings of the Indian Social Club as well as two teams from the Indian Social Club took part in this category.
There were several breath-taking moments. The youngsters and veterans fought shoulder to shoulder and Sapil FC and Brothers FC reached the finals. With their fine shots, Sapil FC bagged the trophy. The losers’ final was secured by Al Kiyan. Mohammed Fahim of Sapil FC was adjudged the best goal keeper. He was given away the trophy by Mr.Yaser Mohammed M.V, member, SMC and-C.C.A & Chairman 40th year celebration committee.

Mrs Tabassum, (English faculty) Mr.Binoy CA (English faculty) and team of students gave live commentary of the tournament. Mr.Farhan, (PE department) , proposed vote of thanks for the students’ tournament while Mr. Binoy CA proposed vote of thanks for the alumni and the parents’ tournament.
