Orientation Programme on Handling Examinations and Career Guidance for Senior Secondary Students held at Indian School Salalah

Indian School Salalah is known for the immaculate attention it gives to the needs of the students to face future challenges. Continuing the tradition, Indian School Salalah arranged an interactive session on Handling Examinations and Career Guidance for the students of classes XI and XII on 8th November 2017. The orientation session was conducted by Dr. Debashish C. Bhattacharya, President of School Management Committee who guided the students on the various aspects of Exams and Career. The session commenced with a welcome address by Master Hridith Sudev, the school Headboy who welcomed the resource person Dr. Debashish C. Bhattacharya, President of School Management Committee, Principal Mr. T.R. Brown, Vice Principal Mrs. Omana Mathews, AVP- Academics, Mr. C. T. Ramasamy, teachers and students.

Dr.Debashish Bhattacharya highlighted that one can achieve success by rightly demarcating between dream and reality, creativity and performance. Major emphasis was laid on the importance of identifying self-potential, which would in turn direct the career choice of the students. Students were provided with the opportunity to pose their queries regarding exam preparation such as proper planning, procrastination management, memory enhancement, undivided concentration and convenient study methodology. These concerns were beautifully addressed through a simple five letter strategy:s POSLC – Planning, Organizing, Studying, Leverage and Completion for better performance.

Throughout the session, the resource person stressed on the importance of setting one’s priorities and effectively accomplishing them by organizing one’s study time efficiently. He encouraged the students to come up with their own unique study- plans but also shared the importance of universal study tools like hand written notes and short- breaks during studies.

Students preparing for competitive exams were guided to uptake specialized exam oriented MCQ training sessions after Class XII Board exams. He also clarified the long-standing confusion between NEET and CBSE Board Exams.

The interactive session proved to be informative and beneficial for the students. The session was concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the school head girl Miss Ritika Raju.
