I S SALALAH CLINCHES FIRST RUNNERS UP TROPHY IN JHANKAAR SPECTRUM 2017
Jhankaar Spectrum is an annual Cultural extravaganza (competition) conducted by Indian school Muscat. The 11th edition of the Jhankaar Spectrum was held in Indian School Muscat on the 2nd November 2017, Thursday in which 16 Indian schools across the Sultanate of Oman participated.
A contingent comprising 122 students representing Indian school salalah participated in all the 28 events conducted in Jhankaar Spectrum 2017. Indian School Salalah emerged as the 1st Runners up with 144 points and thereby creating history. Mr. Wilson V.George, Chairman, Board of Directors for Indian schools in Oman gave away the Runners-up trophy amidst thunderous applause from the audience in a grand Valedictory function. The Chairman lauded the efforts of Indian school Salalah students and teachers for performing well despite travelling 1200kms.
The Students won First Place in English Essay Writing (junior-solo), English Essay writing Senior-solo, Graffiti Making competitions and Flip in English. They secured the second place in English Elocution (juniors and Seniors-solo), Graffiti Making, Junk-Music competitions. The students got the third place in Indian folk song –solo, Bharathanatyam-solo, Western Choral Singing-group, Flip in English, Poetry Recitation in English competitions. The fourth and fifth places carry 4 points and 2 points respectively. The students won the fourth place in English Elocution junior –solo, Create an advertisement, Digital Photography, contemporary dance, Indian classical dance-solo competitions. The fifth position was secured in Mime, Movie Making , Carnatic Vocal- Solo and Western Vocal- Solo competitions.
The Prize distribution function of the Jhankaar Spectrum 2017 was held in a special assembly in the school campus of IS Salalah on the 5th November 2017. Dr.Debashish C Bhattacharya , President, School Management Committee and Chairman, CCA sub committeewas the Chief guest. He gave away the prizes to the students, who won prizes in various events of Jhankaar Spectrum. He said –“ Success has many parents but in this instance it indigenously belongs to the students and the teachers who worked hard for the success, The Principal and the administration for the guidance and mentoring.” The President congratulated the students and teachers for their efforts. He wished that our students should participate in more such competitions conducted in G.C.C. countries and in India and win laurels for the school. The Principal Mr. T.R. Brown congratulated the students and teachers for their exemplary performance. The Chief Guest handed over the winning trophy to Mrs. Omana Mathews, Vice-Principal as a part of dedication to her as she has been serving the school for more than 35 years. The students exulted in joy as they received the winning trophy much to the delight of the audience. The Jhankaar coordinating team thanked the School Management committee, school administration and all those who supported them in the success journey.
