INTERACTIVE SESSION WITH ALUMNA MRS. JULIE ANTONY AT JEYANSH ALUMNI MEET 2021

Jeyansh 2021 rolled out the first Alumni programme for students of Indian School Salalah on 20th February 2021 at 7.00pm. This was an exclusive online session for class X and XII on “How to chase your dreams?” by Mrs Julie Antony, Alumna of  1997 batch. In this virtual session, the students of classes X and XII were fortunate to interact with alumna Mrs Julie Antony who is currently working as a software Engineer in the U.S.

The session commenced with the school prayer by invoking the blessings of God. The prayer was followed by the welcome address by Master Khashif Firoz who welcomed the speaker of the day Miss Julie Antony,(former student of Indian School Salalah), Dr.Syed Ahsan Jamil, President of the School Management Committee, other esteemed members of the School Management Committee, Principal Mr.Deepak Patankar, Asst. Vice Principal Mrs. P.V.Anantha Lakshmi, Incharges, HODs of various departments, teaching and non-teaching staff and students of classes X and XII.

Miss Jerina Sebastian introduced the speaker of the day Mrs Julie Antony, alumna of 1997 batch to the audience on the online platform. Mrs Julie Antony in her address quoted that the school prayer reminded her of her old school days. She felt honoured to be back to the Alma mater. She added that Indian school Salalah had given her enormous values. She stated how Indian school Salalah  made a difference in her life. She felt grateful to all the teachers who taught her and influenced her from KG to class XII. She also specially thanked teachers like Mrs Ponni Basker , Mr.Parvinder Singh, Mr Balasubramanian, Mrs Winnifred Lobo and non teaching staff Mr Ismail.

Mrs Julie Antony highlighted three important key points for every student after class XII. First is that they should ensure the right set of friends who are instrumental in shaping the minds. Secondly, one has to trust our instinct – usually instincts never go wrong and to be in touch with their parents as they are the pillars of support.

When she spoke on the topic….How to chase to chase your dreams? she quoted Dr A P J Abdul Kalam…“Dreams are not what you see in sleep. It is the thing that doesn’t let you sleep.” She spoke briefing seven points on how to chase your dreams as seven being her lucky number. With this she narrated her personal experiences from her life when she was a student at school and college. According to her first thing is to believe in oneself. Students need perseverance to chase their dreams and should be ready to face risks associated with opportunities.

During the interactive session, the students asked many questions to Mrs Julie Antony which she answered diligently to their utmost satisfaction. To the question-What is the biggest factor that has helped her to be successful? Her answer was Self motivation. Her response to the question “How has your alma matter helped you in your success story?  was that all the values that Indian school Salalah had taught her irrespective of political views, religious difference, faith, gender, culture and race, to treat everyone with same dignity.

The Principal Mr Deepak Patankar thanked Mrs Julie Antony for the session and for sharing her experiences with students. The session ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Miss Elsa.
