Indian School Salalah celebrated World Students’ day on 15th October 2020, the 89th  birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam known popularly as the ‘Missile man of India’ through virtual platform with great zeal and enthusiasm. Every year World Students' Day celebrations has a different theme and this year’s theme is ‘Learning for people, planet, prosperity and peace.’

The online event was graced by the presence of the president of the School Management committee Dr.Syed Ahsan Jamil, Chief guest of the day Mr.Jose Kaviyil Chacko, Convener, School Management committee, esteemed members of the school management committee, Mr. Deepak Patankar, Principal, Ms. Anantalakshmi Assistant vice Principal, teaching and non-teaching staff.

The programme commenced with the Welcome Speech by Ms. Ananya  Viswanathan  of class XI A which was followed by an enlightening  presentation on The Life of Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam by Ms.Budddhini Dilthara Rajaguru, Ms.Sowjanya Sripraveen kumar, Ms.Nargis, Ms. Sharifa Fathima and Ms.Brighty Thomas from Class XII B.

The Chief Guest Mr. Jose Kaviyil Chacko greeted all the students on this momentous occasion. While expounding on the theme of World students day,    Mr.Jose emphasized on the significance of self-belief and humility and how Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam became a role-model for the whole world with his wonderful vision and mission. He advised the students to have a great aim, acquire knowledge, be courageous, work hard and achieve their goals. He reminded the students to take a vow this day to read more books as a tribute to the great leader.

Master Kashif Feroz of class X A spoke on the importance of World Students' Day. Ms.Bhagialakshmi and Master Issaac Shibu Samuel from class VIII E  performed a skit titled ‘Pandemic life’ which portrayed the lifestyle change during this period of Covid-19. Ms.Shriya Chatakonda, Master Kiran Nambiar  and Master Sudeep Kumar K.V. of class XI A's presentation on the Mars Orbiter Mission or Mangalyaan indeed paid homage to all the scientists, including Dr. Kalam whose efforts culminated in the successful launching of the satellite.

The declamation of Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam by Ms. Utthara Yashwanth of class IX A  gave an insight to the thoughts of the great visionary.  Master Noel Shaiju of class XI E created a stunning, certainly life-like portrait of the Missile Man of India in the form of a portrait presentation. The short stand-up routine by Master Mohnish Kumar of class IX G broke the ice and brought an extra splash of colour into the programme

 Master Savanth Ganapathi Tekmal, Ms.Fahzia Syed, Master.Mohammed Syed and Ms.Gopika Gopakumar of VIII A presented a series of book reviews of Dr.Kalam’s famous books  which was of course highly informative and engaging. Master Abhinav Suresh of class XI A came up with a creative and innovative way of presenting Dr.Kalam's life - by animating beautifully drawn, true-to-life paper cut-outs.

Ms. Prema G.Krishnan, HOD, Science Department reminisced the people’s president’s thoughts in her speech. She emphasized on setting goals first. She advised the students to be humble and grateful. She also insisted the children to accept challenges and move forward and urged  the children to keep dreaming till they reach the goal true to the words of Dr.AP.J.Abdul Kalam. The one hour long programme came to an end with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms.Muthuvalliammai Saravanan of Class XI A.

The audience were enthralled by the eloquent presentation of the compering team which comprised of Ms. Elsa Nabi XII B, Ms. Adithi Dileep X A, Ms.Nandana X A, Ms.Sharon Abraham X D, Ms.Sandra Maria Thomas X D, Ms.Aya Zia X G, Ms.Rida Shah X and Ms.Fizza Basheer IX E.
