INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH CELEBRATES THE 39TH ANNUAL DAY

The 39th Annual day celebration of Indian School Salalah was truly a convergence of outstanding talents teamed with sincere and genuine efforts and an assortment of cultural carnival.

Chief Guest Dr. Baby Sam Samuel -Chairman, BoD Indian Schools in Oman, Guest of Honour Mr.Mohammed Aufait Al- Mashani - General Manager, Corporate Affairs Port of Salalah who graced the function, received a ceremonial welcome. The national anthems of Oman and India followed by Welcome song were sung to mark the beginning of the function. 

The Head Boy, Master Mihir Rawat  extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest Dr. Baby Sam Samuel –Chairman, BoD Indian Schools in Oman, Guest of Honour Mr.Mohammed Aufait Al- Mashani - General Manager , Corporate Affairs Port of Salalah, members of the School Management Committee, members of Task Force Committees, former members of the School Management Committee, Chairman, Vice Chairman and conveners of the various linguistic wings of Indian Social Club, other invitees, guests, parents, students, and teaching and non-teaching staff. 

The Chief Guest Dr. Baby Sam Samuel -Chairman, BoD Indian Schools in Oman in his address emphasized on three “C”s and advised the students to inculcate the values of Collaboration – Competition - & Community. The Guest of Honour Mr.Mohammed Aufait Al- Mashani - General Manager, Corporate Affairs Port of Salalah in his speech said that one must be himself and repeated the mantra – “Be Yourself”. 

The academic excellence achieved by the students during the academic year 2018-19 was fittingly recognized by the Proficiency awards.  The subject toppers in the Science and Commerce streams of grade XII and toppers of grade X were gleaming with joy and gratification as they received the prizes for their yearlong painstaking effort. All were presented with a memento and a certificate for their conscientious and meticulous effort.  The prize winners were awarded by the Chief Guest Dr. Baby Sam Samuel -Chairman, BoD Indian Schools in Oman, Acting President Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil and Principal Mr.Deepak Patankar.

The Teachers of grades X and XII who had produced excellent results in the academic year 2018-19 were awarded with Gold coins and certificate of appreciation by Chief Guest Dr. Baby Sam Samuel -Chairman, BoD Indian Schools in Oman, Acting President Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil and Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar.

Indian School Salalah was generously opportune to enjoy the affluently gracious presence of  eminent dignitaries the Chief Guest Dr. Baby Sam Samuel -Chairman, BoD Indian Schools in Oman, Guest of Honour Mr.Mohammed Aufait Al- Mashani - General Manager , Corporate Affairs Port of Salalah to titivate the dais this year for the Annual Day celebrations.  In order to hold the fond memories of their cordial presence for the function mementos were presented to the dignitaries by Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil the Acting President of the SMC and Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar.  

The stage, well set with HD LED backdrops and luxurious decorations was all anticipatory of yet another spectacular exhibit of talents.  The cultural extravaganza which included a mosaic of dances, music performances, dramas were ingeniously conceptualized, minutely planned and immaculately accomplished.  Maharaja Krishnadevray and Tenali Raman from the anchoring team held the audience entertained, enthralled and ferried them across to the land of fun and glee. 

The Bharatnatayam dancers with their classic and graceful moves invoked the blessings of the Almighty and provided the spur for the programmes to be followed. The Kerala Folk dance, Thiruvathira, Rhythmic Dandiya Raas, and the contemporary dance enthralled the audience with their exotic steps while the colourfully bejeweled dancers fashioned their traditional and modern repertoire effortlessly in graceful sways. On one hand the English play “Mom, As you Wish” left the audience speechless as the play emphasized on the importance of a mother and how her love and care is often overlooked,  on the other hand the Hindi Skit – “Pizza” depicted a cordial and heart touching relationship between a father and son. The Western Choral Singing and other performances by school orchestra team filled the ambiance with music and melody. The students from CSE group delivered a fantastic visual fiesta with their Bollywood Boom. The Mime showcasing rhythmic movements with apt  music, was a tribute to the cancer survivors who never give up. The grand finale was the astounding performance of the Rock Band with their instrumental ensemble cascading down the classic tunes and also touching upon the sobriety of the traditional Indian instruments.

The dazzlingly dressed up anchoring team aptly summed up the themes of each and every event and engagingly boosted the spirits of the audience. This cultural bonanza a collection of music and movements and dazzle and dexterity was indeed a visual treat which kept the viewers fastened to their seats until the close of the function. 

The cultural evening came to a conclusion with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Navaneetha Krishnan, Chairman CCA Sub Committee and Member SMC.
