METAMORPHOSIS – THE CHANGE, SHOWCASED ON STAGE AS THE THEME OF JUNIOR ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION

Indian School Salalah, the Junior section  comprising of classes 1 to 6, commemorated the 39th Annual Day themed ‘Metamorphosis – The Change’ in a glittering and spectacular manner at the open-air auditorium of the school on 13 December, 2019.

 

The cultural extravaganza highlighted the importance of self-confidence, saving the planet Earth, parents’ responsibilities towards the upbringing of their children in the ever-transforming digital era, diversity in India, menace of mobile phones and its effects on people especially the young ones etc.

 

Mr. Ahmed M. Kashoub, Director of External Affairs with Salalah Methanol presided over the programme as the Chief Guest. He was received and welcomed by Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil the Acting President of the School Management Committee, Mr. Deepak Patankar the Principal of the School and other esteemed members of the School Management Committee. The cultural fiesta commenced with the National Anthems of Oman and India followed by the Invocation Dance.

 

Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil the Acting President of the School Management Committee extended a warm welcome to the august gathering and inspired the young minds with his words of wisdom. In his address he praised the efforts of the teachers and the students for making the school one of the best among the Indian Schools in Oman. He also expressed his gratitude to all the devoted parents for their overwhelming response that serves as a testament of their trust and confidence in the institution. 

 

Mr. Navaneetha Krishnan, Member SMC introduced the Chief Guest, Mr. Ahmed M. Kashoub the dynamic personality of the evening as a man of great caliber, credentials, intellectual with a gentle heart and one of the greatest admirer of ‘the great nation India’.

 

Mr. Ahmed M. Kashoub, Director of External Affairs with Salalah Methanol cheering the spirit of Indian School Salalah addressed the gathering with a brief speech. He was overwhelmed to be amidst the Indian community. In his address he entitled India as a ‘Great Nation’ and said that we should be proud to be Indians. Apt to the theme, he travelled down the memory lane, reminiscing his childhood memories associated with the Indians who made a difference in his life and expressed his unconditional love for India. He urged the parents to realize their children have hidden potential and not to judge them by the scores or the grades that they obtain. He also said that every child cannot be an engineer or a doctor but could be an excellent singer or a musician or a sportsman   He appealed to the parents to nurture their children’s talents and lead them onto the right path as it is necessary that human beings remain connected to the value system imbibed in them by their forefathers and leave behind a rich legacy for the generations to follow.

 

The Teaching and the non-teaching staff who have completed 10, 15 and 20 eventful years in the school were awarded with gold coins and mementoes, for their long service at ISS.. Mrs. Winnifred Lobo the Mathematics teacher and Mr. P. T. Ismail, the Office Assistant who completed 30 glorious years in Indian School Salalah were given a standing ovation and thundering applause by the audience. They were bestowed with the mementos for their dedicated services for over three decades.

 

The significant achievements of students in the curricular and co-curricular domains and various other activities held during the academic year 2019 – 20 were presented through a captivating PowerPoint Presentation.


The Indian School Salalah sets benchmarks, inspires its students and gives life opportunities to widen their horizons and unlock the doors of success. Through the Annual Day 2019, Metamorphosis – The Change the students tried to put forth a very relevant message that values and culture inherited from the enriching past pave the way for a reassuring future.  About 675 young students from Classes 1 to 6 of Indian School Salalah portrayed the underlying idea behind the theme through various enthralling dance forms, enchanting music, mesmerizing dance dramas, enticing mimes and captivating skits. A galaxy of distinguished personalities besides thousands of spectators witnessed this magnificent and splendid fiesta that showcased exquisite artistic talents of students, who performed elegantly in their youthful exuberance. The vibrant participation of these young talents set a model for other students to emulate. The Transformation, Hindi Skit – Athmavishvas Ki Taakat, Dance Drama – Impacts of Mobile Phone, Folk Dances of India, Down the Memory Lane, Tango Dance, Retro Dance, English Musical skit - The Rhythm of Life, Medley Choir etc. were among the major events  of the day. The comperes tied up the thread line from one item to the next with great enthusiasm and fervor.

 

The 39th Annual Day concluded with the vote of thanks, proposed by Mrs. Nadiya Ansar, member of Task Force, CCA. She expressed her gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said and the Ministry of Education, Sultanate of Oman. She also extended her gratitude to the chief guest Mr. Ahmed M. Kashoub for presiding over the function. She thanked the Acting President of SMC, Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar, members of the SMC for their constant support in making the event a successful one. She thanked the former Presidents and members of the SMC, Chairman and members of Indian Social Club and parents for their graceful presence. Last but not the least, she whole heartedly thanked, the participants, the teaching and non-teaching staff for their untiring efforts to make the 39th Annual Day celebration a grand success.

The innovative props, the themed backdrops, the dazzling costumes, the foot tapping music coupled with the enthusiastic performance of the students filled the air with a sense of gaiety. It was a memorable evening for the children who put up this grand show and for guests and parents who witnessed it. The meticulous planning of the teachers, the hard work of the students and the continuous supervision of the Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar, culminated into a successful and a memorable day.
