INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH CELEBRATED CHILDREN’S DAY

Children are God’s best creation. They spread happiness and joy wherever they go with their innocence and love. Children’s Day is celebrated all over India on November 14 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first Indian Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It is celebrated to pay tribute to the great leader of the country who worked for the benefit of children all over the nation. Students of Indian School Salalah from  Kindergarten to XII celebrated Children’s day with fun and frolic on 14th   November 2019. Principal Mr Deepak Patankar was the chief guest.

The celebration in KG & lower primary started with the usual morning assembly; but unlike the regular days, the teachers conducted it instead of students.  The formal programme started with a prayer song. The children came dressed in their best colourful attireThe school campus was buzzing with excitement and joy. The teachers exhibited immense enthusiasm and inspired all. After the formal function, Miss Yasmin (faculty-primary) spoke to the children about Children’s day and its importance. Next programme was a flower dance by kindergarten teachers. The little young minds were screaming with happiness when they saw their teachers on the stage. After that Class 1 and 2 teachers sang a melodious song. Next was a dazzling dance by 1 and 2 teachers. Seeing their teachers dressed up as beautiful girls and danced like small kids made the students surprise and enjoy all the more. Miss Angel from kindergarten sang a melodious song for the tiny tots. Her song made the environment so melodious. The teachers danced to the popular songs which made the children get up from their seats and dance along with them. Kids were dressed as chacha Nehru. Rabbit pencil stand was made by teachers for kid as the take away home activity. The teachers had arranged for more games for the children in which they all participated enthusiastically, and had lots of fun. Colouring  activity was conducted in the classroom which children always like to do. The function was a delight for the students as they witnessed their teachers like never before.

In the upper primary, the whole elation began with the fun-filled anchoring of Ms Cini Jayaprakash, Ms Purnima Santosh and Ms Diana Carvalho. Ms Nithya and Ms Ancylin welcomed the gathering and the special guests of the day – Principal Mr Deepak Patankar, AVP Mrs Ananthlakshmi, Primary In-charge Mrs Anita Rose and the children. The Gappu & Pappu duo and their team captivated the attention of the audience. The first programme itself made the tiny hearts laugh out loud as the teachers presented a wonderful group song wishing the little ones happy children’s day. This was followed by a mesmerizing skit “The Union of super six” by Ms Nithya and group. The colourful cinematic dance was the attraction of the day as the children cheered with clapping hands to the rhythm of the dance. Their joy knew no bounds to see the array of programmes organized by their beloved teachers.

In the middle section, class V students put up a spectacular show on Children’s day. The ceremony commenced with the pleasant welcome speech by Miss. Sarah. Miss Shagun  recited a Hindi Poem titled ‘Bal Divas’. A biographical sketch about Jawaharlal Nehru was presented in the form of an interview. The students mesmerized the audience through the song ‘Heal the world’. The budding actors of class V presented a skit titled ‘Honesty is the best policy. The children’s programme concluded with a short message given by Monish  on the happy occasion of Children’s day. The anchoring team did a commendable job.

Teachers of Indian School Salalah showcased their talent through their various programmes on the occasion of Children’s day. Ms. Aniyamma, Teacher, Department of Social Science & CCA Incharge, Class 5&6 anchored the programme and shared the thought for the day. The programme commenced with the news by Ms. Sreevidya, English teacher, Middle Section. Mr. Parvinder Singh, Department of Physical education, Ms.Bindu Kala, Ms. Deepthi,  Mr.Rajesh from Department of Music, Mr.Hareesh, Department of Social Science and Ms. Angel, Kindergarten teacher captivated  of the students of Indian School Salalah with their spell binding performances. Mr. Saji, Department of Malayalam enchanted the audience by reciting a self composed Malayalam poem. The children were ecstatic to hear the song sung by  Mr.Unnikrishnan, HOD, Department of Social Science along with the orchestra led by Mr. Ishwar Deshmukh, HOD, Physical Education  and Mr. Rajesh, Department of Music.

On this joyful occasion, Mr.Deepak Patankar,  the Principal of the school shared his views   on children’s day and also applauded the efforts taken by the students and the teachers of Indian School Salalah for putting up a fantastic show. The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Ridha (V D). The little ones left the school with a bag full of stories about their special day at school. The celebrations came to an end with the distribution of mini chocolates in the classes as a small token of love and affection by the school. The celebration was a great success and the students really enjoyed it. It left the students with wonderful memories to cherish.

Chocolates were distributed to all children. All the performances were prepared by the teachers. The students enjoyed each and every performance of their teachers.

“There is no garden as beautiful as Childhood”. Every child is a different kind of flower; together they make this world a beautiful garden.  Children’s Day is celebrated to pay tribute to the legendary freedom fighter and our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru popularly known as ChaCha. Children’s Day celebrations focus on children and their enjoyment and this year teachers made their day very special. Special assembly was conducted by the Kindergarten and class 1 and 2 teachers with lot of fun, games and activities. The children were mere spectators and enjoyed to the fullest.  The teachers danced to the popular songs which made the children get up from their seats and dance along with them. Kids were dressed as chacha Nehru. Rabbit pencil stand was made by teachers for kid as the take away home activity. Chocolates were distributed to all children. As it is generally seen, students perform for teachers on various occasions, but on 14th November 2019 teachers gave various performances for the students in order to express their love and care for them. The entire programme was applauded by everybody present and will always remain etched in the memory of one and all.
