ISS CELEBRATES COLOURFUL KERALA PIRAVI
Kerala Piravi that translates to ‘Birth of the state of Kerala’ is celebrated by Keralites all around the world to spread the fragrance of love and happiness. The occasion of Kerala Piravi, was celebrated with great enthusiasm on the 11th of November 2019 at Indian School Salalah, in the school auditorium. The event was graced by the presence of the chief guest-Principal, Mr. Deepak Patankar, Assistant-Vice Principal, Mrs. Anantalakshmi, HODs , teachers and students.
The celebrations began with a melodious prayer, invoking God’s Grace, by students of class IX followed by the welcome address by Miss AthulyaAju. The chief guest, Principal Mr. Patankar, then lit the auspicious lamp and rendered his speech expressing his views on the occasion giving a head start for the cultural programmes. Mrs. Ananthalakshmi, AVP in her brief address conveyed her best wishes for the celebration.
Students of classes IX and X presented a wonderful traditional song known as ‘nadanpattu’, sung in praise of the occasion. It was followed by a spectacular traditional dance;Miss. Krupa MariyamVarghese in her speech highlighted the importance of the traditional language and preservation of the culture. To make the event more lively, an ‘oppana’ a traditional dance of keralite muslim community was performed by students of class IX. The classical dance performance by students of class IX portrayed the diversified culture of Kerala; another event which held all in the grip of melody was a compilation of songs in praise of the various districts of Kerala,yet another surprising, but an amazing performance was presented by Mr. Unnikrishnan, HOD , social science dept, who lent colour to the occasion by reciting a beautiful poem, unveiling the prevalent beauties and bounties of the beautiful state of kerala.
The entire proceeding was well coordinated by the Malayalam department of ISSalalah. Finally, the event was brought to a conclusion, with a vote of thanks by anchors Miss. LiyanaJabin, Miss. Serah Mariam and Miss. ShifaAjnas.Undoubtedly the celebrations brought memories of communal harmony and the vast heritage of Kerala to our minds.
