Prof.Dr.L.S.GANESH, FORMER DEAN, IIT CHENNAI VISITS INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH FOR AN INTERACTIVE SESSION

An interactive personality development & Career guidance session was held in Indian School Salalah on 9 November 2019 in the school ground.  In this session, students of class IX to XII got an opportunity to directly interact with Prof. Dr.L.S.Ganesh, Former Dean, IIT, Chennai, a renowned motivational speaker.  The aim was to enlighten  the students about the choice of their career.  Mr.M.P.Vinobha, Senior Principal, Educational Advisor, Dr. Gokul Das, Head, Operations, Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, President, School Management Committee, and other esteemed members of the school management committee, Principal Mr.Deepak Patankar, Assistant Vice Principal Ms. Ananthalakshmi were the other dignitaries who were present for this session. HODs of various departments, Incharges, teaching and nonteaching staff  and parents  took part in this session.

The programme commenced with a melodious welcome song by the school choir followed by the traditional lamp lighting ceremony by the chief guest of the day Dr. L.S.Ganesh, Former Dean, IIT, Chennai. Ms. Sreevidya.S, Teacher, English Department welcomed the gathering.

Dr Ganesh, while addressing the audience stressed on the need of being adaptable to different situations. He added that life is about making choices. Students should keep their choices open and be adaptable. He asserted the three important questions which everyone comes across in their life – who/what you are as a person, what you are good at and what you love to do. Every human being has a blindspot. Parents and well-wishers can assist the students to identify the blind spots and help them to make a better choice in their life. So the role of parents and well-wishers is crucial in a child’s future as they know the strength and weakness of the child. He shared many inspirational real life stories which motivated the students of Indian School Salalah.

During the interactive session, the students asked many questions to Dr.L.S. Ganesh which he answered to their utmost satisfaction. He also briefed one of the students about the various courses on Physics and research programmes one can pursue after their class 12. He emphasized on the importance of focus in one’s life to achieve their goals quoting the story of Arjuna from the Mahabharatha. The session was truly lively and the students gained energy and inspiration from this great personality.

As a token of love and appreciation, the chief guest Dr.L.S.Ganesh was presented with a traditional shawl and the memento by the President of the School Management Committee Dr.Syed Ahsan Jamil, esteemed members of School Management Committee, Principal Mr.Deepak Patankar, Mr.M.P.Vinobha, Senior Principal and Educational advisor and Dr. Gokul Das, Head, Operations, Board of directors of Indian Schools in Oman. A group photo was taken after the interactive session. Ms. Divya Manoj, Teacher, English Department proposed the vote of thanks.

The teaching fraternity of Indian School Salalah also got an opportunity to interact with Dr L.S.Ganesh on 10th November 2019 in the school auditorium. During this session, the speaker asked to ponder over three important questions to teacher. Those questions were Am I at peace with myself and the rest of the world? Am I keeping my grace, dignity and honour intact and am I enabling others to keep their dignity and honour intact? The last question was Am I struggling for fulfillment every minute of my life? Am I helping others in this struggle to fulfillment in their lives ? He emphasized on the importance of inculcating values through stories in school. The teachers must respect the child’ ability of different interpretation. As teachers, they must infuse good principles in children. Thus the teachers had an enriching and invigorating session with the speaker Dr.L.S.Ganesh, Former Dean, IIT Chennai.
