OMAN CBSE CLUSTER FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT KICKED OFF AT INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH

Indian School Salalah is once again chosen as the venue for the prestigious Oman CBSE Cluster Level Football tournament. Central board of Secondary Education (CBSE Physical Education and Sports Department) organise a yearly inter school competition at  the Cluster, Zonal and National level for the student of its Schools to encourage more student participation in sports and physical activities. Indian  School  Salalah is hosting the tournament for the third time, after 2009 and 2018. The winner of the tournament will secure a place to participate  in the CBSE National Level football tournament going to take place in November in India. The two days event, which was kicked off at 7.30 this morning, will conclude on 26th evening with the finals  being played for  age groups  Under 17 and Under 19 Age.

The inaugural segment of the tournament commenced with the arrival of the chief guest, Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Saleh Abdulsamad Ba Hajah, Director of Affairs & Financial, Ministry of Sports Affairs, Salalah, accompanied by Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, the Acting President of the School Management Committee and the School Principal Mr. Deepak Patenkar. The Chief Guest was received with a bouquet and was given a guard of honour by the Bharat scouts and guides wing of the school. On this occasion, as a token of appreciation, Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil,  the Acting President of the School Management Committee, presented a memento to the Chief Guest, Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Saleh Abdulsamad Ba Hajah, Director of Affairs & Financial, Ministry of Sports Affairs, Salalah.

The melodious welcome song sung by the school choir added flavor to the function. The school Head Boy, Master Mihir Rawat gave the welcome address, which was followed by the address by the Acting President of the SMC, Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil. In his brief address he said that football transforms good person into a better person.  He called upon the players to play with ethics, as that is what they learn from these games. He further added that if you participate, you are a winner.

Principal Mr. Deepak Patenkar conveyed his best wishes to the players and administered the oath  to them. And after the Oath taking ceremony, the Chief Guest, Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Saleh  Abdulsamad Ba Hajah declared the tournament open.

Eight teams in the under 17 category and the six  in the under 19 category are matching their mettle in the two days competition.  Four matches in the Under 17 category are scheduled for the morning hours; Indian School Muscat Vs Indian School Darsait, Indian School Al Gubra Vs Indian School Al Mabela, Indian School Salalah Vs Indian School Sohar and Indian School Muladha Vs Indian School Wadi Kabeer. The afternoon will witness the under 19 category matches as well as two semi finals in the under 17 category. The match referees informed that all the matches are played on knock out basis.
