INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH HELD ANNUAL SPORTS MEET

FOR THE PRIMARY SECTION

The Primary Section of Indian School Salalah held its Annual Sports Meet at the lush green lawn of the school on 1 November 2018. The lush green carpet of Indian School Salalah, welcomed the budding sports stars to the Primary Section Annual Sports Meet with warmth.
Amidst the display of colours created by scores of pompoms and colourful balloons, the enthusiastic little angels of the primary section lined up holding smileys and million dollar smiles, welcomed the Chief Guest Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, the Acting President of School Management Committee. The prefectorial body of classes 1-4 led by Primary Section Captains Mast. Aditya Verma and Miss Zaina Fathima along with the Junior Captains pinned the badges to the esteemed guests. They also presented the bouquet and welcome card to the chief guest. He was accompanied by Dr. Abubacker Siddique, Chairman Sports Subcommittee, other esteemed members of the School Management Committee and Principal Mr. T. R. Brown.
The melodious rendition of the welcome song, “aayehain hum swagatkarne” by the choir enthralled the gathering. Mast. Harsh, Miss Zainab delivered the Welcome Speech in Hindi. Miss Emy stole the hearts of one and all gathered, when she delivered her welcome note in her angelic voice.
The Primary Section Girl Captain Miss Zaina Fathima administered the oath. The students solemnly pledged to maintain the spirit of true sportsmanship. The Chief Guest Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, the Acting President of the School Management Committee released the colourful balloons and declared the Annual Sports Meet of the Primary Section 2018-19 open.
The dazzling displays added splendor to the Meet. The students of Centre for Special Education, displayed their talent. Indeed it was a sight to behold to see the differently abled children performing to the foot tapping music with bright smiles and enthusiasm. They proved that love and care does make the difference. After their performance, they presented a sapling, as a token of love to the Chief Guest, Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil.
The vibrant performers of Classes, 1, 2 and 3 captured the hearts of the spectators with the rhythmic moves of aerobics. The students of Class 4, gave an insight to Yoga. It is essentially a spiritual discipline which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. The children displayed the various asanas with ease to the rhythm of music that was appeasing. 
Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, the Acting President of the School Management Committee addressed the gathering. He appreciated the displays put up by the students and specially mentioned that the Welcome Speech delivered by Miss Emy was incredible. He thanked all the parents for their constant support. He also expressed his gratitude to the students, the teachers and the Principal for putting up a spectacular show. He thanked his colleagues for their selfless commitment as the members of the School Management Committee.
The day also saw few competitions and exciting victories. The highlights of the evening were Fruit Collection, Building Pyramids, 80 m dash and finally  the Sack Race. As the athletes reached the finishing point, one could witness the cheers of applauds from their adorable parents.
It was a moment of great pride for the athletes as they stood on the victory stand and received their medals from the members of the SMC and their spouses. The winners were congratulated by the Principal Mr. T. R. Brown.
The Chief Guest Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil presented the trophies to the champions in various categories. The following were the individual champions:  Class II – Miss Rose MariyaRoyMast, Mohammed Mohammed Ali and Mast. Eshan Shaheed, Class III -Miss Hadhiya Mariamand Mast. Ahmed Hamdan Ahmed Adam, Class IV – Mast. Shaheen Shaji. The Red House of the Primary Section clinched the championship with 49 points and the Blue House bagged the runners up position securing 47 points.
The destiny of hard work is always success and each one at Indian School Salalah had worked hard to make the day a very special and memorable one. The sports meet ended with vote of thanks proposed by Miss Kruthi, Miss Asma Jamal, and Mast. Vinay.
