CURTAINS RAISED FOR CCA FEST-2018 AT INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH

SALALAH: Indian School Salalah unveiled the 4th edition of its ‘CCA FEST’ with a splendid inaugural function on the eve of 15th August, 2018in the school premises. The co-curricular activities organized by the school give an opportunity to unearth the multi-faceted talents of the students.
‘CCA FEST-2018’ commenced with an invocation to the Almighty by the school choir. The CCA coordinator, Mr.Vipin Das, formally welcomed the Guest of Honour Dr. Suhail Salam Said Al Mahri, Asst. Manager for Private Schools, Ministry of Education(Oman),Dr. Debashish C. Bhattacharya, President of the School Management committee Vice President Dr. Syed Ashan Jamil, Treasurer Mr. Sanjeev Singh and other esteemed members of the committee, Principal Mr. T.R Brown, VPs, AVPs to the celebration. The programme was graced by the former President of the school management committee Mr Cyril Samuel, a number of dignitaries from different walks of life ,  office bearers of various wings of the Indian Social Club and a large number of parents teachers, parents and students
The President of the School Management Committee Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya, along with the Guest of Honour Mr. Suhail Salam Said Al Mahri, Asst. Manager for Private Schools, solemnized the ceremony by lighting the lamp. The Vice president of the School Management Committee Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, Treasurer Mr. Sanjeev Singh and Principal Mr.T.R Brown honoured the ceremony by lighting the lamp. The President of SMC then declared the four day long CCA Fest open.
Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya in his address emphasized the importance of co-curricular activities, especially sound and music, in students’ life. He further added that CCA’s main objective is to make a student complete in all senses. He opined that it will help them to think laterally and dynamically. And it will enable them to face the challenges with confidence. On this occasion, he recounted the contribution of Dr. Biju Sayed ( former Vice President of the SMC) and Mr. Anto Lalu , a senior teacher of the school, in conceiving and executing the first ever CCA FEST, four years ago. He advised the children to take an oath that they would come forward and win prizes in the coming years.
As part of the formal function, an Oath was taken by the house captains and their team members to sustain the fair and just conduct of the events. School Head boy Master Sourabh Singh rendered the oath. To add to the grandeur of the inaugural function, the talented dancers of Indian School Salalah performed a scintillating semi classical dance that enthralled the audience.
The formal inaugural function was followed by the captivating competitions conducted in various venues. The seniors category animation competition left the audience spell bound by the their creativity and presentation skill, while the competitive spirit of the students in answering the questions in the Sub Junior spell bee competition was noteworthy. The regional solo song by the senior category was a splendid treat to the audience.
Day one witnessed a very energetic and enthusiastic participation of the students from the four houses. Many more literary and cultural events are in store for the next three days. On the whole, the school campus is transformed into a place of cultural extravaganza.
