INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH CELEBRATES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

Indian School Salalah celebrated the World Environment Day on Tuesday the 5th June in the school premises with great enthusiasm. To commemorate the day class VI hosted various activities.
The event was graced by the School Principal Mr. T.R. Brown, Vice Principal Dr. Srinivasan, Assistant Vice Principal Mr.C.T.Ramasamy (senior section), Department Heads and teachers of the school.
World Environment Day is the UN’s most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Above all, World Environment Day is ‘People’s Day’  to take care of the Mother Earth.
The programme commenced with a welcome note and introducing the theme for this year- ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ by Master Sherwin Sharaf followed by a melodious song titled ‘Plant a tree for your tomorrow.’
Master Muhammed Shamlal and Miss AnanyaA, expressed their thoughts about the importance of celebrating the Environment Day. An interesting animated video was then shown to highlight  the dangers caused by the use of plastic. Thereafter Miss Hezel shared a few valuable tips on the ways to reduce the use of plastic.
The students enacted a short Hindi play which threw light on the topic of Environmental Degradation that conveyed a clear message to the audience not to waste water and energy.
The students and the staff participated in plantation drives to make the surroundings green. Saplings were planted by the Principal to motivate students to plant more and more trees in order to make the earth a better place to live. The students visited all the classrooms with placards to bring awareness to the students to avoid using plastic.
 Principal in his address congratulated the students of class VI for being a good audience. He also appreciated the Social Science Department for the wonderful programme. He said that the students’ performance gave a clear message that each and every person plays an important role in protecting the environment. He also mentioned that today’s children can become instrumental to start the initiative in saving water which will surely have an impact on the society.Principal made it a point to make the students understand the urgent need to stop using plastic. He concluded his words by asking the students to become a role model to the society.
The programme came to an end with  vote of thanks by Miss SikhaRajesh..
