Indian School Salalah celebrated the award nite on 15 December 2017 in the school premises to recognize and honour meritorious students who had excelled in both scholastic and non scholastic activities. Prof. Dr. Hassan Said Kashoob, Vice Chancellor, Dhofar University honoured the function with his gracious presence as the Chief Guest. Dr. C. M. Najeeb, the Vice-chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman& DIC, IS Salalah  graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

Dr. Debashish C. Bhattacharya, President, School Management Committee, other members of SMC and Mr. T. R. Brown, the Principal welcomed the chief guest Prof. Dr. Hassan Said Kashoob, Vice Chancellor, Dhofar University  and the guest of honour Dr. C.M.Najeeb, Vice Chairman of BOD-Indian Schools in Oman & Director Incharge, Indian School Salalah. Master Hridith Sudev, the school Head Boy and Miss Rithika Raju, the school Head Girl, Master Saurabh Singh, the Deputy Head Boy and Miss.Greeshma Rosario, the Deputy Head Girl, received the chief guest as well as the guest of honour.
 Mr.Binoy, Coordinator, CCA formally welcomed the august gathering. Miss. Greeshma Nandakumar of 5 E and Miss.Pavitra Manoj of 5 F presented the bouquets to the chief guest and the guest of honour. The programme commenced with the CCA report by Mr. Vipin Das, Coordinator, CCA. He acknowledged the tireless work of the staff and students in 48 events and 1235 participants in various events of CCA..
Dr. Debashish C. Bhattacharya, the President of the School management committee, in his speech thanked the benevolent gesture of Prof. Dr.Hassan Said Kashoob for providing the auditorium for the interactive session. While addressing the audience, he expressed his dream of one day cultural programme ‘Alankar’ in IS Salalah to be conducted in the year 2018. Dr.Debashish explained the importance of failure, to the children, saying that until a person failed, he/she would not taste the nectar of success and emphasized that every child is a winner if he tries and does his best. He was proud of each and every student who had participated in CCA 2017 and thanked them for their dedication, determination and hard work.  He also appreciated the efforts of the CCA Committee, staff and students.  Dr. Debashish profusely thanked the former president of SMC Mr. Ram Santhanam, Mr. Biju Sayed, Vice President, AVP (Admin) Mr Srinivasan and staff Mr.Anto Lalu for the idea of CCA Fest.
The chief guest Prof. Dr. Hassan Said Kashoob awarded the subject toppers of class 12 in different subjects. Dr.C.M.Najeeb, the guest of honour gave away the academic awards to 56 students from Class 10 who scored CGPA 10. According to the Board criteria, Certificate of Merit is awarded in each subject to the top 0.1% of the successful candidates so as to recognize their outstanding performance at its Senior School Certificate Examination. Merit certificates were given to three students who passed out XII in 2016.
 Various judges of the CCA events were recognized and honoured for their unbiased and impartial judgments in the Award ceremony. Er. Mohan Das Thampi and Er. Ajith were presented with mementoes for their contribution to the school safety and maintenance related work done during the summer vacation. Mementos were presented to the chief guest Prof.Dr.Hassan Said Kashoob, the Vice Chancellor, Dhofar University and to the guest of honour Mr. C. M. Najeeb, the Vice-chairman, BOD as a token of love and appreciation by Dr. Debashish.c.Bhattacharya , the President and Mr. T. R. Brown, the Principal.
In the prestigious Award  Ceremony, the prizes to the winners in CCA inter-house competitions held during the CCA Fest were given away by Dr.Debashish, the president of SMC,  members of SMC and the esteemed dignitaries and guests. The prizes of NGSE, Inter school Essay Writing competition and Quiz conducted by IS Nizwa were also given away.  ‘The Life Skill Award’ instituted by Dr. V. S. Sunil, the former president, SMC for the best House in life skills was awarded to Yellow House.
The over all championship position in CCA in the Junior category was shared by Blue and Red House and  runner-up position  was  bagged by Green House. In the CCA Senior category, Red  House won the winners’ trophy and  Yellow House received the runner-up position. Over all CCA championship and runners’-up trophies were given away by the guest of honour Dr.C.M.Najeeb.
 Cultural programmes also entertained the audience. The Choral Singing Team who had won the Third Position in Jhankar 2017 enchanted the audience with their song ‘Lollipop’. Punjabi Folk dance by the students who won first place in CCA Fest mesmerized the audience. The school choir enthralled everyone with their congratulation song. The annual award nite came to an end with vote of thanks proposed by Mr.Bala Subramanian, HOD, Hindi Department and steering member CCA.
