Indian School Salalahwitnessed yet another ceremonial function, the inaugural ceremony of the Center for Special Education in the K.G Block on 7th December, 2016. The presence of eminent guests added to the grandeur of the occasion. Mr Wilson V George (Chairman, Board of Directors for Indian Schools in Oman) presided over the function.Dr Baby Sam Samuel Director, Board of Directors for Indian schools in Oman and Director CSE was the guest of honour.The Chairman considered it as a historical moment for ISSalalah as it is the first center under Indian school board outside the capital.

The grand inaugural function witnessed the presence of Dr. Debashish.C Bhattacharya, President of the School Management Committee, the members of School Management Committee, Chairman, Indian Social Club Mr.Manpreet Singh, Former President of SMC-Mr. S. Ram Santhanam and Ex- members of the SMC, Esteemed sponsors of CSE, Principal Mr.T.R.Brown, Vice Principal Mrs. Omana Mathews, Assistant Vice Principal Mr.Srinivasan(administration),Assistant Vice Principal Mr C T Ramasamy(academics), Head of the departments, Incharges, Parents, Teachers and students.

MsSmithaChandrshekar (CSE faculty) welcomed the gathering to the inaugural ceremony of the Center for Special Education. She expressed her gratitude and respect to his Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said for his benevolence and giving  the opportunity to serve the children.

Mast.Milan and Mast.Jonathan presented the bamboo shoots (Good Luck Charm) to the chief guest, Mr Wilson V George, Mast.Ahmad and Mast Kanon to Dr.Baby Sam Samuel, Mast.Milan and Jonathan to Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya, Mast. Tharakajeet and Mast.Snehal to Mr T R Brown and Miss Amina to Mrs.Omana Mathews.

Mr. Wilson V George and Dr. Baby Sam Samuel inaugurated the Center for Special Education. They were accompanied by the President Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya and members of SMC, distinguished guests and dignitaries. Dr.Debashish C Battacharya briefed about the infrastructure and the well equipped facilities in CSE. MrsNeha illustrated the uses of various equipments and their benefits to special children.

Dr.Debashish C Bhattacharya, the President of SMC in his address remarked that Dr. Narayan Kutty(ex-convenor of SMC) and Mr. BaskerPanicker were the key persons who felt, identified and gave birth to the need for CSE a decade earlier. The President expressed his profound gratitude to Mr. Wilson V George, Chairman BOD and Dr C M Najeeb, Vice Chairman BOD for the promise rendered for CSE in Salalah in 2017 and made the reality happen at the exact time. He also thanked Dr. Baby Sam Samuel Director, BOD and Director, CSE for granting teachers, technical support, ideological support and technical aid support for CSE. He expressed his gratitude to DIC for its help to procure things from India and make CSE a well equipped center for children.

The entire financial corpus of this dream project was raised single handedly by the President of SMC-Dr.Debashish. C. Bhattacharya who could invoke the kindness of the following charitable gentlemen: KhimjiRamdasfamily (Kanaksibhai, Anil Bhai,),DharamseyNency family (BipinbhaiDharamsey), Oman pharmacheuticals- Mr. SujayHamlai, Sheikh MustahailkashoobMR Fashions-Mr. Harinder SinghLambha, Lulu-Salalah-General Manager-Mr. Mohasin, Raha-Mr.Nicholas D’ Souza-Branch Manager (Poly Products LLC) and Tamil Sangam contributed generously to CSE.

He thanked the members of SMC Engr. Jonathan, Mr. Yaser, Mr. Mani, Mr. Sanjeev, DrJamil for their effort in planning, design and the construction of CSE in a short span of 28 days.

The President of SMC considered it a cherished moment as Dr Baby Sam Samuel was recently awarded the Doctorate of Philosophy from the hands of Mr. Narayana Murthy, Chairman, Infosys, from SRM University for a PhD in Management and Information Technology. He was felicitated with a shawl and a memento by the Chairman, BOD, accompanied by The President of SMC and The Principal.Ex-SNG Teachers MrsMythili, MrsJayanthi and Occupational Therapist Dr. Lovely were appreciated for building the foundation and developing it from SNG to CSE along with Dr.Narayan Kutty and Dr. Baby John as visiting medical expertise.

The children of CSE mesmerized the audience with a melodious performance. The singers stole the hearts with their melodious voices and soulful music. The song “Love can turn the world” was enchanting and filled the hearts with spirit of unity which is apt for today’s world scenario.

Mr. Wilson V George, Chairman, BOD began his address with a video and mentioned about a special child Sagar of grade VII in one of the schools in Muscat. The Chairman saluted the teachers for their great work in CSE. He mentioned about Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawkins who with their disabilities achieved the pinnacle of success.The Chairman stated that every life is precious and everyone on the earth has the right to enjoy the precious life.. He felt that he was able to make some changes in the life of every parent not only in Muscat but also in other places and Salalah. He thanked Dr. Narayan Kutty for his thoughts and efforts on those days for his concepts that are materialized now.

The Chairman appreciated the contribution of Dr Baby Sam Samuel, the time he spent for CSE Muscat and the enthusiasm shown to support other schools.. He also thanked the two teachers Miss Smitha and MrsNeha for their relentless service. He also thanked Dr. AnalpaParanjpe, Principal CSE who extended all the support to all the centers.The chairman thanked the DICs of Indian School SalalahMrFaizi and Dr C M Najeeeb for their active support and involvement in establishing the center in Salalah. He congratulated Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya, the active force behind this initiative. He had witnessed his dedication, commitment and hard work which is a role model for any other presidents of Indian Schools in Oman. He also thanked the former President Mr. Ram Santhanam for his service and contribution. The Chairman recognized the support rendered by the sponsors and thanked them from the bottom of his heart for their noble initiative towards CSE.. He also mentioned that ISS came forward and was able to complete the initiative on time with lot of enthusiasm by the team led by the Principal T R Brown.

The students of class IX and X captivated the audience by their brisk performance of a Tambourine dance accompanied by a melodious prayer song sung by Salman of IX F for the long life and good health of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said and for the development of the nation.

Dr Baby Sam Samuel in his address reflected his dedication and passion to reflect young minds. He undoubtedly stated this as the most enriching experience in his tenure as the Director of Indian Schools in Oman. The CSE had equipped him enough than any other educational organizations where smile and joy of a child matters more than academic results. According to him,for a child, the present matters than yesterday and tomorrow. He appreciated the SMC under able leadership of Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya for the commitment, dedication and empathy towards children in the region. He thanked the Chairman Wilson V George for his unconditional support for the initiatives taken by the board for CSE. He also remarked the guidance and vision of Dr C M Najeeb, DIC, Vice Chairman BOD.

 According to him children should be emotionally grounded, inculcated with habits of all the characteristics of acceptance, emotional empathy, adaptability and diversity. DrDebashish C Bhattacharya thanked Dr Baby Sam Samuel from the bottom of the heart for the New Dynamic Website free of cost for ISS through his contacts, efforts and abilities. He also thanked him as ISS is going to be digitalized in its operations – accountancy, administration, communication with the parents, community and society in the form of comprehensive ERP system.

Engineer Jonathan, member SMC, Chairman, Infrastructure and IT Committee in his address briefed about the efforts taken for constructing the CSE Center in a short span of time in ISS. He also mentioned about infrastructure development and the major changes in infrastructure in and around the school. He also thanked the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Director of BOD for their support in developing the infrastructure of the school.

MrRamasamyAVP(academics), HOD English Dept addressed the gathering and mentioned the history created in ISS with the inauguration of CSE. On this momentous occasion he expressed the love and affection for the people who had contributed generously to the center. He requested the Chairman BOD to do the honours for the personalities accompanied by the President Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya, members of SMC and Principal T R Brown.KhimjiRamdas-Mr.BharatRamaya,DharamseyNency,-Mr.PriteshKhambatta, Oman pharmacheuticals- Mr. SujayHamlai, MR Fashions-Mr. Harinder SinghLambha, Lulu-Mr. Mohasin, Raha-Mr.Nicholas D’ Souza-Branch Manager (Poly Products LLC), Tamil Sangam- Mr. Elancheran and Mr.Julius(convenor), Contractor Mr. Gigi Kasim were honoured with a memento.

Dr. Baby Sam Samuel received a memento on behalf of the Principal of CSE, Muscat DrAnalpaParanjpe. Dr Wilson V George Chairman, BOD was honored with a memento for his contribution to CSE and continued support for the school by the President of SMC-Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya, members of SMC and Principal Mr.T.R. Brown.

The inaugural ceremony came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by the school counselor Dr. ArunaShukla.).
