INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH GIRLS U-19 WON THE OMAN CBSE CLUSTER KHO-KHO TROPHY FOR THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Indian School Salalah hosted the two-day Inter-school Oman CBSE Cluster Kho-kho Tournament on 29 and 30 October, 2017. 156 students from seven Indian Schools including the host school all over the Sultanate participated in the tournament. Indian School Salalah girls U-19 continued their record in 2017 tournament too. They won the Cluster Kho-kho trophy for the fourth consecutive year. 

The teams with their coaches, Mr. Sajit Kumar-the Observer, Oman CBSE Cluster Kho-kho, the staff, parents and students of the host school amidst the gracious presence of Dr. Debashish C. Bhattacharya, the President of the School Management Committee and Mr. T R Brown, the Principal gathered at the school ground as early at 8 am for the inaugural ceremony.

Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya, the President, School Management Committee welcomed the participants and wished them all the very best. Mr. T R Brown, the Principal of the host school administered the oath. The participants took the oath with a promise to take part in the tournament respecting the rules and regulations with the true spirit of sportsmanship for the honour of their schools and for the glory of sports. Mr. T R Brown, the Principal then declared, “2017-18 Kho-kho CBSE Cluster Tournament open”.

The opening match was between Indian School Maabella and Indian School Sur U-17 boys and in this category Indian School Sur won the winner trophy and Indian School Jalan stood runner-up. U-17 girls, when Indian School Sur bagged the first position, Indian School Nizwa secured the runner-up position. Indian School Salalah clinched the winner trophy U-19 girls category and the runner-up position went to Indian School Muladha. U-19 boys, Indian School Muladha and Indian School Salalah won the winner and runner-up positions respectively.

 

The chief guest, Prof. Dr. Hassan Said Kashoob, Vice-chancellor, Dhofar University graced the Closing Ceremony. The occasion was also graced by Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya, the President, SMC, Mr. T R Brown, the Principal, Dr. Biju T. Sayed, the Vice-president and Chairman, Sports Sub-committee, esteemed members of SMC, Mrs. Omana Mathews, the Vice-principal, Mr. S. Srinivasan, Asst. Vice-principal (Admin) and Mr. C T Ramasamy, Asst. Vice-principal (Academics). The chief guest, Prof. Dr. Hassan Saeed Kashoob, Vice-chancellor, Dhofar University and the august gathering were formally welcomed by Mrs. Rachel Abraham, faculty, English.

Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya, the President, School Management Committee in his address appreciated all the participants for their enchanting display of sportsmanship and sporting skills as they demonstrated higher standard of very indigenous game, Kho-kho. Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya announced that Indian School Salalah feels proud in hosting Kho-kho tournament as students here in Salalah get thorough exposure to the game to develop their skills and hence, there will be a true exchange of talents across schools in Oman. He very specially appreciated Indian School Salalah team U-19 girls for retaining the championship.

The chief guest, Prof. Dr. Hassan Said Kashoob, Vice-chancellor, Dhofar University congratulated all the winners of the tournament and shared the beautiful and fond memories that he had cherished since yesteryear. He told that in sporting activities and extravaganza everyone is a winner and the fond memories of it will last lifelong.

 The chief guest, Prof. Dr. Hassan Said Kashoob gave away the medals and trophies to the winners. As a token of love and appreciation, Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya, President of SMC, Mr. T R Brown, the Principal, Dr. Biju T. Sayed, the Vice-president, SMC presented a memento to the chief guest.

The inter-school Oman CBSE Cluster Kho-kho Tournament- 2017 came to its closure with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Farhan Javed, faculty, Physical Education Department.
