INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH ORGANISES ENRICHING SESSION WITH LT GEN (DR) VELU NAIR.

Following the trend of organizing motivational sessions for students of  Indian School Salalah to update their skills and knowledge, and make them better citizens, an interactive and a fruitful session was held with Lt Gen (Dr) Velu Nair, PVSM, AVSM, VSM**, on the 26th of November, 2017, in the school auditorium. The session was graced with the presence of the President Dr.Debashish C Bhattacharya, esteemed members of the school management committee, Dr. Milan Kundu, (doctor - Armed Forces Hospital, Salalah), Principal Mr.T.R Brown, Vice Principal Mrs.Omana Mathews, Assistant Vice Principals Mr. Srinivasan and Mr. CT Ramasamy, teachers and students of class 10.

Miss Bhoomi introduced and welcomed Dr.Velu Nair, a proficient and infallible doctor, he was conferred with the very prestigious ParamVishishtSeva Medal, AdhiVishishtSeva Medal to name a few for his exemplary services to the medical faculty of the Indian Army. He is presently the group head of medical services and also chief consultant, Haemato Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant in Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Centre (CBCC).

Dr Velu focused on the subjects such as health, IT and future opportunities for the students, emphasizing the fact that India is not just a country of snake charmers but also one of the largest growing global powers. He elucidated the progress of Indians in medicine and how India has contributed to control deadly disease such as HIV,AIDS and various other diseases.

Advising the students to have a positive attitude towards everything as attitude builds ones personality, he encouraged the students to enhance one’s attitude to achieve success and learn to manage time and gave a few important life lessons with anecdotes of his own experience. On the social front, he emphasized that unity in diversity is the biggest definition of democracy and India is lucky to have the most robust parliamentary democracy. But we must also not forget that democracy is freedom with accountability. His advice to the students to succeed in this competitive world was, “Find the gaps of your goals which you want to achieve.

The session was followed by active interaction with the students, the intriguing queries were promptly and intelligently answered by Dr. Nair.

As a mark of appreciation and gratitude President of SMC Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya and principal Mr. TR Brown presented a memento to the distinguished guest. The enriching session compered by Master.MihirRawat, Miss Ayushi Pragya, Miss Bhoomi came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Miss.Sneha.
