Newly constructed Stage & Sunshade inaugurated on 73rd Independence Day celebration at IS Salalah

Indian School Salalah celebrated the 73rd Independence Day on 15th August, 2019 with great patriotic spirit, zeal and fervor at the school premises. Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Sanh Al Mashikhi, Manager Al-Raffd Fund, Dhofar branch graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Sanh Al Mashikhi, chief guest of the day, escorted by Dr. Syed Ahsan Jameel, acting President of school management committee, Principal Mr. Deepak Patankarand members of SMC inaugurated K.G block Sun Shade and new stage which is now a part of Indian School Salalah’s robust infrastructure.

The programme commenced with a prayer song followed by the Oman National Anthem and Indian National Anthem, filling the hearts of all present their with true patriotic spirit and pride. Master Justus Sebastain in his speech extended a hearty welcome to chief guest of the day, the acting president of school management committee Dr. Syed Ahsan Jameel, esteemed members of school management committee, Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar, Chairman of Indian Social Club Mr. Manpreet Singh, distinguished guests and dignitaries.

 

Addressing the gathering Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil acting president of school management committee drew comparisons with the mission statement of the school, which emphasizes moulding students to become caring and responsible global citizens, he also added that along with celebrations, comes the responsibility to make democracy and global citizenship a reality and urged students to realize their potential and work towards the prosperity of India.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar saluted the martyrs who laid their lives to free India. He said that it is the youth who would lead India and stressed the need for all round development of students along with academics.

 

A musical rendition by the students of class III- IV and patriotic song by students of class VIII awakened everyone’s feelings towards motherland Indiaand  left the audience imbued with a sense of patriotism. Students of class VIII presented an English skit BE THE CHANGE that revealed the true meaning of free India and urged audience to recollect responsibilities towards nation. The scintillating dance performance by the students of class VIII enthralled the audience with a true spirit of patriotism. The emphatic speech in English by Master SidharthJayaprakash, Miss Hanna Elsa Alex and Miss HamnaNishtar of class IV and in Hindi by Miss ShazfaShabbir of class VIII amplified everyone's patriotic spirit.

 

The Prize distribution, an integral part of the Independence Day, left parents beaming with joy and pride to see their wards collecting prizes for their outstanding performances. Chief guest Mr.Mohammed Ahmed Al Sanh Al Mashiki accompanied by Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, acting President of school management committee and Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar gave away the CBSE merit certificates recently issued by CBSE to Miss Rhea Jacob and Miss Aquila Thomas for securing centum in Maths and English. Master Samved Shaji Nambiar, a ninth-grade student won the National Energy Globe Award, a globally renowned prize for environmental conservation, for his stewardship of Oman’s environmental beauty and natural resources was felicitated by chief guest of the day. 

 

The fraternity of Indian School Salalah appreciated the efforts of Infrastructuresub committee headed by Engineer Jonathan Solomon and his team of engineers to reconstruct  KG block sun shade, stage and compound floor which were damaged in Mekunu cyclone. Er. Jonathan in his speech thanked everyone who supported him to accomplish this herculean task and for keeping trust on him. Er. Jonathan Solomon (Head of the team), Mr Sathya Prakash (Project Engineer, National Engineering Consultancy), Mr. Mansoor and Mr. Biji M. Babu (Project Engineer, Thameer Engineering) were felicitated with mementos as token of love and appreciation

 

The Programme concluded with the Vote of thanks by Miss Nicole Sarah Ernest of class VIII. Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect for the motherland, make it a better place to live and realize the worth of freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
